About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Bike, eat, drink, sleep!

ABOUT ME

Hmm, what to say. I am inspired with travel, and think it is one of the most important means of education. How can we better promote peace with one another than through a thorough understanding of one another?! I am Franco-American, and therefore grew up with a natural affinity for other cultures and a great appreciation for diversity, international cooperation, and the sharing of ideas. After I graduated from college I worked in France as a cycling tour guide, then moved to Senegal to work as an Environmental Education volunteer with the Peace Corps, and am now on my way to New Zealand for a masters program in Environmental Management.

PHILOSOPHY

This is constantly in a state of flux, but currently I am in a place that thrives upon change, exploration, and discovery. I am trying to live a full life. My current goal is to fulfill all of my personal dreams and never stop accruing personal dreams!

Personal relationships are extremely important to me. Sincerity, honesty and trust are what I strive for in myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been living in Wellington, New Zealand for the past year pursuing a masters degree in Environmental Manangement and traveling as much as possible. I hope to couch surf all across the South Pacific!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used CouchSurfing extensively while I was traveling through Europe at the end of 2008 and met some of the most genuine and interesting people during my days on the road. Later I surfed in the US and made even more solid friendships. Everyone has something to share and I found everyone so willing to accommodate me and welcome me into their homes and lives. I had a much more rich experience than I ever would have if I had been traveling from hostel to hostel.

Interests

So many interests, only one short lifetime. I am passionate about the environment and our commitment to preserving it and protecting our resources for further generations. I am currently most interested in emerging renewable fuels.
I really like to be active, i.e. run, swim, bicycle, rock climb, kayak, sail, hike...the list continues.
I am fascinated with flight, specifically helicopter flight, and still dream of eventually becoming a pilot.
I enjoy meeting new people and relating to new things. If we are not constantly expanding ourselves, we are only wasting time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a lot of music, but am not very discriminating. I can listen to a song ten times and still not know the title or the name of the artist. Nonetheless, I listen to a lot of music and enjoy most genres.

Books are a must. I have recently started reading in French, and I hope to expand in this direction so that I can read some of the philosophical texts of French thinkers in their un-translated versions. I will read novels, philosophy, comedy, non-fiction and history, and enjoy most of all a good newspaper.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing the 30-foot palms on the Costa Rican coastline and pulling down coconut after coconut, slashing them open with a machete and drinking fresh coconut milk on the dark sand beaches in the Corcovado National Park.

I have more...just ask.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to perform your own bicycle maintenance- a must if you intend to have your own bike and contribute to a cleaner world.

-I make good crepes and really enjoy teaching people how to make their own.
-I can share my knowledge of renewable energy and the current means that we have at our disposal to end our dependence on fossil fuels.
-I think that everyone should know how to change the oil in their car and change a tire, so I am more than happy to perform a tutorial on either of the above.
