About Me
Kia ora,
Life has thrown some recent curve balls so I’m investing in the improvement of my Mandarin for the next few months in Beijing. After that I will be returning home to Christchurch, NZ, and will be settled here. I hope to have another home I can be hosting people from within a year. If you are in Beijing before Decemember I’m still happy to give advice and show people around when I have time.
I am a typically untypical primary teacher/traveler from the South Island of New Zealand. I have been travelling for 3/4s of my life and grew up in New Zealand/West Africa/France and now spend much of my teacher holidays backpacking around.
I love volunteering in schools while I travel and getting to know indigenous communities.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To connect with locals and travellers.
To enrich my experiences.
To share yarns and create memories.
My best memories from my 6 month trip this year all link back to CS. I hope to host to a standard set by amazing CS community members I had the pleasure of meeting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One? Just one? But how...
I couchsurfed through Iran for a few weeks this year which is on par with getting super fit in Nepal for 2 months pulling down earthquake damaged homes and rebuilding a school. It is but a taste though...
