ABOUT ME
I am a human being and I love traveling and making new friends. Right now I'm really interested in growing my own food, meditating, yoga, and listening to my intuition. I get passionate about pretty much everything I do, and this has led me to believe at various points in my life that I would : be an anthropologist in Ethiopia, devote my life to yoga in Thailand, work as a sexual abuse counsellor in south Africa, and a tree sitter in California. The verdict : I explored a lot but now I'm back in bc on an even more exciting adventure of making myself a full life here. Wish me luck! Maybe we will meet and you can tell me about your adventures too.
PHILOSOPHY
The main thing for me in life is people. I think it is so exciting that we get to be people and to meet people and to recognize the incredible similarities and differences that exist between us. I am also interested in how we live in and interact with the world, and in how we can do this in ways that do not hurt the world and take the precautionary principle into account. I really like learning, and try to do this through many different experiences and conversations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Ive surfed a fair amount in the states and BC and have hosted informally a lot also. But... I am no longer living out of my car or backpack, so I can host now!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In my last apartment we had a beautiful couch that was frequently up for grabs among my friends. Some came for a night or two, others came for months. I found there were always benefits involved, especially as the stays grew longer. For example, having a "couch person" meant that they often cooked organic foods and invited me to join. It meant I had someone to talk to if I was bored from studying in my room. It meant I was never the last one to go to bed after a potluck or party, because there was always someone whose bed Was the common room (although sometimes they would fall asleep on it hours before the gathering ended). I also enjoyed sharing my couch in this way because the one thing about Canada is that we have a lot of space! So in one way it was a reaction to that.
Interests
I am interested in potlucks and dancing. I like visiting new places and meeting new people. I am a curious person. I like talking and laughing. I like going on hikes and I love reading and I like talking about theories and politics. I am interested in learning more about organic farming and anarchism.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like listening to Radiohead, State Radio, Ani DiFranco, Guster, The Shins, The Used, Martha Wainwright and more.
I have a hard time sitting still (and not talking through) movies, but, recently I have gotten better at this. Tonight I am going to watch "A Serious Man" and I have high hopes. I recently enjoyed "Lars and the Real Girl" and I really like "Garden State" as well as the soundtrack. I love the TV series "Strangers with Candy" and Amy Sedaris.
Books: "9 Stories" by JD Salinger is one of my favorites. What else? "Natasha" by David Bezmogis, anything by David Sedaris or Nell Freudenberger, "A Long Walk to Freedom" by Nelson Mandela, anything by Bessie Head, especially "Maru" which is amazing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once chopped open a coconut with a machete.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share info about feminism, South Africa, making your own toothpaste, charting your fertility, agama yoga... aaaand I am really good at making up nicknames and cutting hair!
I would like to learn more about living in a good way on earth and growing food.
