About Me

Hi! I'm a recent UC Davis grad in Community and Regional Development with a minor in Chicana/o studies. While in school my interests really varied but I was very active in issues related to social justice and equity. With that said, I don't really tolerate ignorance which at times makes me come off as a jerk but it's really because I feel everyone should be held accountable for their actions. However I usually tackle this issue with humor so even if we argue at the very least you'll end up with a laugh.

I was a peer advising counselor for nearly three years with the Educational Opportunity Program on campus so I'm a very empathetic person and have zero issues with staying up all night to talk. I feel that when people share their troubles with one another they end up spreading that weight around thus causing less pain for the individual and assuring that the community is doing its job in supporting its members.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing because I'm bored, in the process of moving, and don't have many friends in town anymore. Most of my friends have graduated and gone on to grad school while I'm still in Davis for a few more days. I see this as a last hoorah before I leave.

Interests

I'm a movie junkie. Name a movie and I've seen it (yes, foreign films too). I love how you can create something that is totally fictional or dramatized and still relate to it or grow from it.

I also fall down internet rabbit holes everyday. I could be looking up what year Vladimir Putin was born and end up learning everything there is to know about classical Russian composers of the 19th and 20th century. I do this A LOT so don't worry if you see me on my laptop till 6am babbling about hexavalent chromium 6 in groundwater supplies. It's normal!

Music, Movies, and Books

I go through phases in my life where I fall in love with certain genres. I used to be a HUGE alt rock fan but now I'm getting in to jazz and rap. If you've get any suggestions I'm all ears!

I've touched on movies in my interests so check that little paragraph out!

For the longest time I used to think reading was such a waste of time. As a movie buff I just felt it was easier to learn by listening and watching things, but then I read Chinua Achebe's , "Things Fall Apart" and fell in love HARD with reading. I wish I had more time to read more but if you have a book that completely changed your life please let me know about it!

Countries I’ve Visited
