Overview
About Me
I am a healthy happy retired Australian woman who is exploring the world sometimes solo, sometimes with friends or family.
I make friends easily with all age groups and travel light. Sometimes I stay in hostels, sometimes BnB, sometimes with friends, depending if I’m traveling alone or not. I like to stay a while in a place to get a feel for it, and say that ´where my suitcase is, that’s my home ´.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I met another adventurous woman in Cappadocia in Central Turkey while watching the balloons at sunrise.
Patty from Peru told me she had been Couchsurfing and met some great people along the way.
I had downloaded the app but not used it, so decided my couch back home could be put to good use when I’m home. I ran a Homestay for ten years and now I visit some of those travellers in their countries. By Couchsurfing, when I’m home I can keep in touch with travellers and while travelling I can meet the locals.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like most music as long as it’s not too loud.
I tend to not be a big fiction reader as I don’t have a lot of spare time. I listen to audio books while I’m travelling and find it a great way to pass time on buses and trains etc., the latest being ´the Barefoot Investor’ by Australian best selling author Scott Pape.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I feel like I’m always doing amazing things as the world is an amazing place. Two days ago I was ankle deep in muddy cow and pig manure in Ushguli, Georgia. Ushguli is a unique UNESCO heritage listed village, one of the highest villages in Europe. I had to wash my shoes, sox and feet in the icy stream that came from the mighty Shkhara Glacier while pigs snuffled around me in the brilliant sunshine. I was happy as a “pig in s..t”. Every day is amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a teaching background so I can help with conversation English and am always interested in learning some local words and customs as well as sharing recent travel adventure stories. I have been involved in Permaculture for many years and can lend a hand in the veggie patch if you have one.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have lots of interests but I’m a master of none. I have traveled Australia extensively and lived in many different places and worked in many different capacities. My favourites are far North Queensland and Victoria. I have worked in tourism in the Cairns region and know a lot about what is available. I have dived the Great Barrier Reef on every dive boat in the area and rafted, skydived and hot air ballooned. I recently graduated with a business and marketing degree from James Cook University and follow world events if that’s your thing too.
