ABOUT ME
I was recruited to sign up by the city ambassador of long beach, and found myself amazed with the people and personalities that fill the couchsurfing community. I'm glad to bring my beer brewing and drinking, kickball league professional playing, awesome dog owning, amazes everyone i meet self into the couch surfing world. I live to travel and make new friends, and I'm unconditionally happy about having couchsurfing as a way to do it!
PHILOSOPHY
If everyone thought about how their actions impact the world and people around them , the world would be better place.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't host often these days, but I look forward to when I can. I know CS doesn't really have 'Karma points' like Reddit, but I'd like to think that the more I host the easier time I'll have finding couches when I go travelling (Honestly, I don't really even use or understand Reddit either, but its been explained to me that you try to collect karma points).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stumbled across Couchsurfing thanks to my friend Tree. She was already a CS-member when on a serendipitous night we were at the local wine bar and met the Couchsurfing City Ambassador for Long Beach, Mike. He invited us to one of the Long Beach Couchsurfing Month Meetup themed parties he used to throw. Having gone, I made a lot of great new friends that night and have been really close to Mike/Melliot ever since as well.
Since that fateful evening, I've attended TONS of Couchsurfing events. Now that Mike's not doing them any more, I'm really going to try hosting more so I can still be surrounded by cool travel-minded people and make tons of new friends from around the world that I might not meet were it not for Couchsurfing.
Interests
Kickball, Dodgeball, Beer, Wine, People, Running, etc.
Beer is near and dear to my heart. Don't think I'm prioritizing inebriation though! I'm truly a connoisseur: I belong to an enthusiast/tasting group called HopHeads here in Long Beach, and have even made and bottled a few of home brewed beers!
Kickball is how I spend most of my Saturdays. It's a great group of people, and though there are rankings and team jerseys and we keep score, it's really treated as a season of pickup games and a great social experience.
Wine? Wine is for my classier evenings. If you've seen the TV show 'Friends' from the 90's, you can think of the wine bar I frequent as the 'Central Perk Cafe' for my friends and I. There's no denying we'd rather have wine over coffee, and we can usually be found there multiple times a week. If you surf with me, you'll likely be taken there!
Running is something I've been getting more and more active with. It started with a half marathon that has turned into this massive commitment. A lot of people get excited for music festival season...I get excited for 'Running Season'! I think it would be fairly cool to host a surfer who's interested in doing a run with me while he or she is couchsurfing at my place if we plan it far enough in advance!
Dodgeball is something I'm doing less frequently these days, but it's as cool as you'd imagine it. It's also no kickball league either...these ballers take their games seriously!
and of course...people: I cannot accurately put into words how rewarding I find making new friends across the globe. I'm fortunate enough to get to travel internationally every now and then, but the beauty of hosting is when work is busy or money is tight I can always try hosting and have the world come to me!
