About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Teach English, aprender español, 记得我的汉语

ABOUT ME

I am an English teacher with Programa íngles abres puertas in Punta Arenas Chile. I love to travel and meet new people. I enjoy art and philosophy and keep up on current events. My goal now is to be the best English teacher I can be.

PHILOSOPHY
My home is where my friends are, and it helps to make friends easily.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I am traveling through Chile and will be looking for people to meet up with to share their city with me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couch surfing experience I was hosted in Tromsø by Marius Storvik who is a wonderful host! He showed me what hospitality to strangers should look like. I have also couch surfed in China where my hosts helped me a lot with my Chinese. Finally I have couch surfed in Japan where my host was prepping for a chance to work for cirque du soleil. Most recently my couch surfing experience in Chile was terrifying and the response from couch surfing was nonexistent. So I'm honestly a little nervous but am very stubborn and not willing to give up on couch surfing just yet.

Interests

I read a lot, I write a little, I got pretty good at pottery, I wish I was better at guitar than I am. I study language and I am learning how to teach others my own language.

Just started bachata classes, am looking for a place to practice ceramics in Punta Arenas. Am open to any hobby anyone is willing to teach me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Latest read: Sinclair, Isabel Allende, Terry Pratchet, George R.R. Martin, a Batman comic
Latest concert: First Aid Kit

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why only one?
Watch my niece learn to walk and talk, watch understanding dawn across a students face
Stared at the milky way in Konso Ethiopia
Trekking in los dientes de Navarino in Chile.
Paintballing, sky diving, made a bowl out of clay,

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my travel experience, I can teach English, I love learning crafty things, I know five chords on the guitar really well, and I have dabbled in Orbitz light shows. The reason I know those last things is because people showed me their hobby and I always look forward to the opportunity to try something new.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Denmark, Ethiopia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Chile, China, Norway, United States
