About Me

CURRENT MISSION

help to change (save) the world

ABOUT ME

I've traveled a lot, and lived in Mexico (3 years), Japan (2 years), Iran (one and a half years), France (about 2 years), England (1/2 year). In the US, I lived for more than 30 years in and about New York City, but also have spent years in San Diego, Salt Lake, Michigan. Young in '68, I have worried about the state of the world since, and spend time writing down my thoughts. Made a lot of my living as a math educator, working from kindergarten to graduate school.

PHILOSOPHY

I seem not to be happy unless I fell I'm doing something in my life that is likely to be of value to others. I believe a good deal of communication with others is important to personal growth. Feel Internet yields incredible new possibilities (for instance CS!), will change our world ... if we let it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now, in September, 2008, I am just starting with CS, although my son has been a participant for a number of years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only outside CS, with friends and acquantances. But it hasn't been uncommon in my life, involving both my couch and the couches of others.

Interests

My writing work. I especially love writing fiction (but have not pushed publication yet), but find writing down my analyses of what's going on helps me understand a lot. LOVE swimming in the ocean, skiing, tennis, being in nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Children of Paradise (France's favorite movie), Welcome to Sarajevo,Havana, Stand and Deliver, Lives of Others. Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, popular and folk music from all over the world. Shakespeare and Plato! Bellamy's Looking Backward, Michael Crichton's novels, Starhawk's Fifth Sacred Thing, Jared Diamond, Deborah Tannen. Many more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I heard Luc Montaigner, a virologist from the Pasteur Institute in Paris, who is generally considered to be the discoverer or co-discoverer of HIV as the cause of AIDS, say in a U.S. radio interview that Peter Duesberg (the virologist who wrote a long book providing evidence that suggests one should doubt that HIV causes AIDS), makes many important points in his book, points which should be investigated.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to share thoughts about a future society for human beings, one that would have infinitely less misery and hold much more interest and joy for essentially everyone.
