About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to love what I do

ABOUT ME

I am a passionate and engaged person. I make decisions quick, but don't see that as a bad thing. I am good at keeping in touch and hang on to quality friendships and relationships across distance and over time. I am always up for a challenge, often doing things 'the hard way' but always enjoying the journey. I like strange art, found objects, and friendly people. I am in love with the Canadian north.

PHILOSOPHY

my personal philosophy is a work in progress. undecided and ever changing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to both host and surf, but have had more of the former than the latter. I am interested in engaging with travel more in terms of people and relationships than space and location. I will only host if I have time to do be a host, but love it when I get the chance.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted people in Victoria, and in Hanoi when I lived there. Some of my best couchsurfing experiences were with people I neither hosted nor surfed with. Just meeting up for coffee, or beer, crabfishing, or snail soup can be just as fun and meaningful. I love the spontaneity of the relationships it creates, and the global possibiilty it opens up. I hope to be couchsurfing a lot on my two year road trip along the Pan American highway from the Arctic to the tip of Argentina.

Interests

I like to ride my bike to the beach at night, I brew beer in my bedroom, I enjoy people who bend gender, I like hunting, foraging, and scavenging. I am a fan of crafts of all kinds.

Lately I have been really into learning to speak Spanish.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read a lot of non-fiction. Currently reading: Dorothy Allison, and Dionne Brand. Wild Fermentation by Sandor Ellix Katz is my favourite.

As for music, I am currently listening to: The Acorn, Woodpigeon, and Basia Bulat.

My favourite movie is "Deep Inside Clint Star" (an NFB documentary about young Indigenous people's experiences with sex and intimacy) I also love "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (a queer rock musical about a German transwoman)
