ABOUT ME

A general geek (love math, Marvel, Star Wars extended universe, Star Trek, DC and general geeky stuff) I also love talking. About pretty much anything, though horses and geeky stuff are the things I can talk about the most. Current record: three hour conversation on the mechanics of a space-unicorn battle. Fun times.

Traveling has always been a passion and I'm always on the hunt for new opportunities to get out and see the world. I like writing, reading, hiking and the outdoors. I also love learning new things and seeing new places, especially when I can take pictures to send home to my little sister to tease her mercilessly that I got there first. Heh.

And coffee. Coffee is good (fantastic).

PHILOSOPHY

The Golden Rule is my golden standard of behaviour. I try to keep my word and when I can't, own up to it. Give more than you take if at all possible, keep the books balanced.

Laugh often, and laugh genuinely. Whenever someone asks you to do something out of your comfort zone (skydiving, go grocery shopping in a foreign country), seriously consider the question "Why not?" before flat out refusing.

Never be afraid to say 'no, thanks' though.

And finally, try to avoid moronic behaviour as often as possible. When unavoidable, try to minimize it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly in Europe a few years ago now (oh gosh it's been so long since I've traveled...). Enjoyed my experiences immensely and now that The Degree is over, I'm trying to get back into a traveling groove!

See interests? Umm, again. Star Wars for movies. I really like most any movie except sappy romances and small doses of those are enjoyable. Oh, except slasher/horror/gore films. Don't like those at all.

Music is pretty much anything, but I don't like playing it too loud. My ears are somewhat sensitive. So clubs are hard for me to deal with sometimes.

Books... pretty sure I'd run out of space. Star Wars extended universe, particularly the X-Wing series. Valdemar saga. Harry Potter. Tamora Pierce (pretty much all her series). Tom Clancy (particularly Hunt for Red October). 1632 by Eric Flint. Going to stop now.

Taught a girl terrified stiff of horses to ride and have her gleefully tack her own horse and hug it goodbye at the end of a week.

Sledded (MS Word says it's a word) down the longest sledge-hill in Europe at 1 a.m. Nearly wiped out a few people walking up the hill while I was at it!
