ABOUT ME

I'm a person who savors beauty in things, and all things sensual. Ilove anything made by hand; my dishes are handmade pottery,handblown glasses line the shelves, and my house is a creative workof love. These are all things that fill my senses and make me feel alive.I savor good food, dancing, moving, lying under the stars. I love to create beautiful things; often in the context of my home. In thelast few years, I completely remodeled my house, designing andrunning the entire project, including doing much of the workmyself. I trimmed out the house using old siding that I tore offthe outside, planed, de-nailed, sanded and oiled . It's beautiful,and I feel a deep satisfaction knowing that it came from the house,and went back into it, and of course, that I did it myself.I'm a spontaneous adventurer; I went to Thailand and India a few years ago, and discovered my travel lust. I enjoy traveling without an imposed itinerary, and seeing what adventures present themselves. In India, I traveled without much of a plan, which resulted in amazing experiences like being brought into an Indian family's home for a full day, being dressed in a sari, fed, and in broken English, exchanged life stories. By the time I left, I was sworn to lifelong friendship, and told I must come back for weddings when they happened; all of this with barely any common language! I came home feeling like I had made deep connections, and really tasted life in a different world and culture.There was actually a letter from that family waiting for me upon my return whose opening line read "To my delicious friend". Mmmm. I like being a delicious friend! Needless to say, I am really looking forward to traveling more, though of late I have been learning about flying's grave carbon impact, and have second thoughts about the sustainability of travel via air. Something to ponder more and come to some resolution with inside.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just recently joined CS, so I'm looking forward to many adventures both surfing and hosting. I'm going to Mexico later this week, and hope to surf while there.As I said, I have a beautiful island home in the Pacific Northwest, and look forward to hosting people from around the world.

I love to be outside in all seasons: skiing in the winter,kayaking, and hiking in the warmer weather, and biking all yearround. I bike commute to work almost every day, and love that I cansee the city as I pass through it, rather than speed by enclosed ina metal box traveling at inhuman speeds. I live in a place thatoverlooks the water, and feel nourished by feeling the trees andwaves and birds surround me. I've been backpacking my whole adultlife, but last summer I decided I was ready to try some solo trips.I was terrified, but also really excited, and the two solo trips Itook were so profound. Once I pushed through the terror of beingalone in the wilderness, I found an amazing feeling of freedom. Ihiked where I wanted to go, sang songs out to the wind at night bymy campfire on the beach, and felt genuinely happy and content. Thesecond time I went, I hoped I would re-capture that feeling again,and though I had to push through the terror in the beginning, thesame thing happened. I love the feeling that I now possess that Ican go off to any cool place by myself and explore.Exhilarating.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have lived on a bus for two year as a college student, where we camped out every night, cooked our meals on camping stoves, and decided by consensus where to go and what to learn.

I have remodeled much of my house, which was an adventure unto it's self.

I have done solo backpacking trips in the Olympic mountains, and sang to the surf as the stars shone above.
