About Me

Hey there, I'm Svenja
I live in Augsburg, a beautiful old town in Bavaria, where I study media & communication. I love being around new people and getting to know them, which comes in handy for both my side hustles: I work at a beautiful bar/cafe & I do photography, mostly in the music scene :)
Aside from that I love being out and about with my friends, enjoying the 100 different places to go for a swim in Augsburg, reading good books, shooting videos for my musician friends, go hiking in the nearby mountains, go running in the parks and woods around town or just drink coffee and talk about politics, sustainability, music, feminism or other subjects with my roomies all day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is the perfect opportunity to get to know the real soul of the place you travel to and to connect to people whom otherwise I would never get to meet. It's a great tool and community and I love being part of this and sharing and learning as much as I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Always a tough one. A band that I've loved for quite a while is "Parcels" and especially their latest Album "Day&Night". I also listen to "old" music a lot, like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, the Grateful Dead, Bill Withers, The Doors, The Mamas & the Papas and so on...but you can also catch me listening to Billie Eilish or German feminist hip hop, it's a wild mix and I've got a lot of great tunes to share.
The books that touched me the most in recent years probably were "Mornings in Jenin" by Susan Abulhawa and "Vom Ende der Einsamkeit" by Benedict Wells and I love most work by Rafik Schami, Liv Strömquist or Robert Seethaler, but could never pick a favourite. Same for movies and TV-Shows, anything Quentin Tarantino is great and for goods laughs I love the work by Phoebe-Weller Bridges and Ricky Gervais.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked in Cairo's garbage area, stood on the globe that tops the Northern Cape and surfed my heart out in Indo.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a curious and communicative person who loves good talks about pretty much every subject and sharing my own values, culture and experiences. I think I'm also a good listener and someone who can have a good time on their own, so if you don't feel like your super-social-self while hosting me or staying with me - don't worry! In my opinion a good experience doesn't mean you need to be 100 % on and telling the craziest stories at all times. Being kind, curious and respectful is what really matters for me and what I will always be towards you :)
I also love cooking (mostly plant based) and baking for and with people, exchanging music recommendations and drinking a beer, good wine, or any non-alcoholic drinks together that I can bring with me in my backpack ;)
