ABOUT

I grew up in the Alberta prairies & East Coast of Canada and later California. I love music, nature, meditation, and travel. I've been traveling now for 12 years. I used to teach yoga in New Zealand. I was a professional musician in my early 20s, then I gave up everything and lived in India for 5 years. I studied anthropology in University. I've practised and lived with a Zen master on and off for the last twelve years. These days I work as a commercial fisherman.

I've couched-surfed throughout North America, Europe, Africa, New Zealand, and India. Many of the hosts I've stayed with became good friends who really made traveling a richer experience. I love hosting too & showing travellers around my community.

Whenever I practice Osho Dynamic Meditation every day, I am the most free I've been since childhood.

When I was in Slovenia I discovered that Slavoj Žižek is a hilarious philosopher, and I have much love for the great rebellious guru Osho.

Once, upon the instruction of my zen master, for no particularly identifiable reason, I swam 10 kilometres directly out into the open ocean, well beyond the point of seeing land. And then, I turned around and starting swimming back. I spent about 9 hours at sea. While floating out in the vast ocean, I thought I might die that day. Deep down, though, I knew I would return to shore safely: I was motivated to get back and eat some really delicious apples I had waiting in my fridge. None of it made sense and it was absolutely absurd, and yet it freed me very deeply.
