ABOUT ME

Music is my primary interest: I play lots of instruments: piano, guitar, percussion instruments, simple flutes...plus, I sing. I have been writing lots of spiritual songs for the past five years. In both high school and college I was known to be wacky, different. I am a mother of a ten-year-old boy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2008 I lived in a beautiful house where various members of the household were hosting couchsurfers. I was able to meet about 10 of them while they stayed with us. How my life was enhanced by their visits! In 2009, I stayed with a host for two and a half weeks, which I consider an incredible blessing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My favorite experiences were sharing meals with couchsurfers and doing impromptu music jams. At a percussion jam, I started throwing little pebbles into glass bottles of different sizes. That was my instrument. One of my (former) housemates brought in a big plate of tomatoes and cucumbers with lime, agave, and homemade kombucha vinegar on them for everyone to share. What a wonderful, memorable evening!

Interests

I enjoy artsy independent films such as Winged Migration, Toto the Hero, Waking Life, and Japanese Animation (Spirited Away etc.). Also dramas and comedies, as long as the comedies are not shallow/fake.

Music lately: Orrea Varis, Munirih Sparrow, Ray LaMontagne, African gospel music, the Beatles, David Grey, Christian music, Deva Premal, Krishna Das.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have camped in the Boundary Waters in Minnesota. It is complete wilderness. I would go there for a week each summer with my parents as a kid. When you get far enough in, only canoes are allowed: no motor boats. The silence, the space, and the serenity up there is amazing. The communion with nature is fantastic.
