Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have known about couchsurfing for a number of years now, but I got involved for the first time in the Summer of 2011. A friend of mine went to a mixer and met a French girl who was looking for a place to stay for the last week of her six week adventure in the states. She was only 19 and had gone from California to Utah to Wyoming surfing all the way and was having the time of her life. Ballsy thing to do for a girl her age. My friend couldn't put her up for the night but immediately thought of me. She brought the French girl, Elise, to my place and my roommates and I were thrilled. She ended up staying at our place for the entire week! She partied with us and even made us crepes for breakfast a few times!

Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot of science fiction like Philip K. Dick and Kurt Vonnegut with some horror and fantasy from Stephen King and Terry Pratchet as well. I watch a lot of horror movies and usually look for whatever can bend my mind the most. For example, I once stayed up all night watching 5 Hiyao Miyazaki movies. I love live music! My favorite stuff to listen to are bands like Umphrey's Mcgee, Phish, Metallica, Les Claypool, Bassnectar, Railroad Earth, Emancipator, and many others. I'm a DJ at the local community radio station WMPG 90.9 Gorham-Portland.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once on a beach in Thailand, we decided to go snorkeling at night. We swam with flashlights from a beautiful beach in the Adang Archipeligo. We saw a few great things that night including a moray eel, but the best part was when we all turned off our flashlights. Immediately the water all around our bodies exploded in sparkles! Every movement we made looked like it was leaving a trail of fairy dust. Those bioluminescent creatures sure were amazing. It was probably the most magical thing that I've ever been a part of.
