About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm trying to get out there and do new things - I'm tired of being boring!
ABOUT ME
I'm a graduate student studying biology with a passion for electrical engineering and radio frequency design, but I'm trying to branch out and meet new people and experience new things. I recently realized I've lived a somewhat boring life in many ways, and I hope that CS can help me change that! I come from a fairly conservative background, and tend to gravitate toward less social events, but am hoping to get myself out there a little more as time passes by!
PHILOSOPHY
I used to be a pretty boring person, focused so much on sacrificing current enjoyment to prepare for my future that I missed out on a lot of potentially enjoyable experiences. My life was shaken-up recently when my wife died totally unexpectedly, and it really made me stop and realize that life needs to be lived, and it gave me the desire to be a little more spontaneous and try to make memories worth reflecting on, rather than focusing only on ideas of how I hope my life will be one day. I think a balanced life contains both of these elements.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have an open mind, positive attitude, and hopeful outlook on my life! I'm up for anything and looking forward to see what I can do to help others.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I recently learned about CS from a classmate who has traveled many places through this website, and I look forward to having awesome stories to share about my CS experiences soon!
Interests
I'm interested in science, electronics, computers, radio frequency design, and pretty much anything mentally stimulating. I often follow my interests to the point of stressing myself out, and hopefully I can learn to relax more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I held a syringe in one hand, dental drill in the other hand, and looked a patient straight in the face and said "No, I have not done this procedure before, but I did see it on YouTube last night"
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very interested in radio frequency design, and I love building circuits to receive and transmit radio signals. Although I don't travel with my home-made radio equipment, I do have a small collection of commercial radio equipment which can be run from a car battery or wall power. I sometimes go somewhere new, throw a long wire in a tree as an antenna, and communicate all over the world with voice or Morse code. Yeah, I know Morse code. I'd be popular in the 1800s =o)
