About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the woods and rivers

ABOUT ME

People would describe me as woodsy and happy.
I am content to be back in the same town I grew up in. I know how excited the salmon must get when they return to the same stream in which they started their life. I like playing guitar with friends and making up funny songs. I really like climbing trees.

PHILOSOPHY

Make fires that keep people warm

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By making connections, giving directions & gifts

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had 9 travelers stay over during the first week or so after starting couch surfing. I think Reedsport is such a popular surfing locale because our rivers bring people here.

Interests

Taking pictures of cool things I see with a lousy camera and trying to edit it to look halfway like what I remember it. Asking for directions. Stirring the pot. Watching the leaves change.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Star Thrower, Origins, The Great Divorce, Sometimes a Great Notion, old Mickey Mouse and Pluto cartoons, Desert Solitaire, all music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was deep in the bush outside of Maputo Mozambique attempting to sleep in my tent while a massive thunderstorm was passing by. As the rain died down, I heard some music off in the distance so decided to check it out (completely dark out). It was a local band with keyboards, bass guitar, guitar and microphone playing some crazy beats and everything was ran off car batteries. We danced and laughed for hours.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can attempt to spread my knowledge of river forms and functions known as "fluvial morphology". Rivers all around the world share certain patterns which we can use to restore them, we can also learn from water itself in how it slowly but surely changes the face of the Earth.
I also know about foraging for wild edibles.
I know how and where to make a massive beach bonfire too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Mexico, Mozambique, South Africa, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
