About Me

I'm self-employed, living in a small backyard house, and engaged in the struggle to balance freedom and responsibility in adult life. I love vinyl records, eastern philosophy, and the wilderness, even though I get too little time with all three. I get a deep satisfaction from learning and exploring new ideas and being forced out of my comfort zone. Sometimes I get too focused on planning and wrapped up in my own thoughts, but I also enjoy connecting with others through philosophical discussion that stems from those thoughts. I think all people can change any part of themselves if they desire it, but I also believe that the foundation of every individual is static and unique.

I'm seeking enlightenment but fully aware that doing so is what keeps me from it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I relied on the site exclusively for lodging during my first trip to Europe, and the results were life changing. Seeing the beauty and generosity of strangers first hand is the key to cultivating a positive and real understanding of the world. I want to provide that kind of connection to people passing through and also have it available to me during my travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

Really into dub music currently. My record collection is primarily roots dubstep (Mala, Deep Medi), but I enjoy jazz, folk, bluegrass, lounge, blues, and everything in between.

I love to read and am currently attempting to read as many classics as possible. Most recent favorite is Crime & Punishment. Also, anything by Alan Watts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitching to the Shambalah music festival in British Columbia.

Teach, Learn, Share

Any of the above! I'd love to learn more about human motivation and happiness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A mindful stay and an open heart. The challenges and rewards of running a business. Foundational discussion. Underground music. Gifts from my travels, if I have any.

Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain
