About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn from anyone and everyone.

ABOUT ME

I'm a young woman just trying to experience as much of the world as I can to keep myself open-minded, learning, and experiencing new things. I firmly believe everyone has something to teach me, and that every place has inherent power and energy that is beautiful.

**I’m celiac, so cannot eat gluten including wheat, barley, rye, and malt** I avoid cross-contamination as much as possible because my body will wig out from it.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host couch surfers when I can and travel and experience new places and people with fellow surfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only officially hosted a couple of times, though the house I used to live in had so many surfers coming through that it feels like more. Everyone I've met has been kind, courteous, adventurous, and pretty darn interesting!
As for surfing, I've done less of that, but my experience so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
I've also given and received advice about other places to stay and things to do in the places I'm going. Please don't hesitate to hit me up for info about Duluth, MN (I grew up there), Missoula, MT (I lived there for 5 years), Ellensburg, WA (1.5 years), or Portland, OR (going on 5 years).

Interests

I love the outdoors. I enjoy artsy projects and I love theater, dance, music, and good food. I love knitting and appreciate all fiber arts.

Music, Movies, and Books

If it moves me, I'll listen to it. I'll probably dance along as well.
I love all kinds of books, and am constantly listening to podcasts of all kinds.
Surprise me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteered in Bagamoyo, Tanzania for 5 weeks in 2012 and worked with a wonderful group of girls who have changed my life, and I hope I was able to help them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently a graduate student about halfway through two Masters degrees; one in Social Work, the other Public Health. I used to be a violence prevention advocate, and before that a theater maker/actress. My dream is to combine both to help create a kinder world. I’m passionate about social issues and love dance, yoga, and intentional movement. I also knit a lot and enjoy singing. Any and all of these things, or anything at all, I would love to learn more, talk about, or teach. I love experiencing another person's passion and learning about it from them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I love to bring little items from where I'm coming from, especially something that's unique to that area such as local cheese or honey from the farmer's market, or local jewelry or crafts. If I'm particularly low on money, I enjoy cooking and/or baking for my hosts (I pride myself on being able to cook for all dietary needs). I can almost definitely teach you how to do a cartwheel. I can also offer conversation, a few adventure stories, and my own world perspective.
