About Me

**we are currently unable to host, but hope to again in the near future! **

Hi There!
I'm a Colorado-born adventurer dying to see as many places and experience as many cultures and people as I can. My boyfriend, Dalton, and I are both fit, food-lovers who appreciate good stories, laughs and our luck at the unique opportunities we have encountered so far in life.

Having met in Oregon during college, we spent our weekends touring breweries, wineries, chasing waterfalls and playing soccer/wrestling for our school. Both a bit nerdy (I majored in biochemistry & Dalton reads business books for fun) we throughly enjoy stimulating conversations and learning about new things. I finished uni by studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina where for 6 months I had the incredible chance to live with a host family and experience Buenos Aires along with many other countries in South America. Dalton came down to visit for a month, where we both caught the inevitable travel bug.

Our current adventure required moving to Aberdeen, Scotland where Dalton is now studying for his master's in physiotherapy at RGU. We are so incredibly excited at this new opportunity to explore Europe and cannot wait to meet more amazing people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Something we learned while in South America is there is such a big difference between traveling and vacationing. Traveling is tiring and pushes your comfort-zone, but is so incredibly rewarding and eye-opening. On the other hand vacationing is relaxing, comfortable and easy. There is a time for vacations, however we aren't seeing the world to be comfortable, put our feet up and be waited on. We travel for experiences, understanding, cultural-imersion and friendship. We travel to have our eyes opened a bit wider and our comfort-zone to be stretched a little further.

We're on Couchsurfing because we want to meet great people who are little different than us and see how they live life. We want to see new places from their point of view - not the perspective from a guide book. Simultaneously we want to share our stories and recipes as well. In the end of the day if it conserves a couple dollars and we can go a bit further, meet a few more people and see a couple more places, that's fantastic.

Interests

Dalton & I are both active, healthy people who enjoy delicious meals, craft beer, wine and adventures. We started home brewing together a couple years ago and need to find new equipment here in the UK! I enjoy playing piano & Dalton loves the guitar. Cooking (I have a top-secret fettuccine alfredo recipe that makes my mouth water just thinking about it), growing plants, photography and blogging are also ways I happily fill my free-time.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both love reading - however at completely different ends of the spectrum. Some of my favorites include Harry Potter (huge nerd), The Art of Racing in the Rain, the Happiness Project and other travel blogs. Dalton loves business books (Rich Dad, Poor Dad) and documentaries - however this was before he now has to study all the time.

We are HUGE fans of The Office (American version).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've won a couple nerdy science awards and Dalton placed second in the nation for NAIA wrestling.

Teach, Learn, Share

We both are interested in learning about new skills/cultures and excited to teach what others find interesting about us. Being open-minded we find exploring new points of views exciting and enjoy expanding our knowledge and perspective.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A couple things we are excited to share:
- Delicious home-cooked food (healthy or not healthy... your choice!)
- Some well-informed opinions on craft beer tastings ;)
- Useful knowledge for people looking to travel to South America and/or the U.S. West Coast
- Stimulating and fun conversations
- A PT assessment - if you're willing to trust Dalton's couple months of schooling! ;)
