About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit as many countries, live as many cultures, and master as many languages as I possibly can!

ABOUT ME

I am absolutely in love with traveling, and all the more so when I can stay with, and get to know, the local people and their traditions. I hope to absorb enough of the world's culture and language that I can blend in anywhere and with any people! I am so excited to meet and learn from all the people I interact with through CS.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that as long as I have the means to help people, that I must.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed a couple of couches in Mexico City and it was a blast! Since I have been home I have hosted a whole slew of amazing and interesting people from all over the world and I am all the more excited to keep going. I love the idea that by contiuing to host, I am keeping the blood of Couch Surfing flowing. And whether or not I ever surf again, I am happy to be keeping it alive.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some truly lovely people through Couch Surfing: from our host family in Mexico City to our French brothers who made us crepes in our own kitchen! I enjoy offereing people a warm and friendly home, as I was offered when I was away from my own.

Interests

Traveling, of course! I love to read especially historical fiction. I love live theatre and music both as an actor and as a viewer. I volunteer for No Mas Muertes (No More Deaths) on the Arizona/Mexico Boarder, and for Big Brothers Big Sisters here in Flagstaff Arizona. I love the outdoors, especially the ocean. I work as a community educator to end sexual assault, and am passionate about women's healthcare in the U.S. and around the world. Ultimately I would like to live in an underdeveloped country, working in women's health education.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like everything I have ever read! I am utterly impressed to read fiction that an author was able to create from nothing more than their imagination, especially when I am so completely transported by their words that I forget where I am. At the moment, I am reading young adult fiction, since my work is with high school aged kids and I want to know what they are reading. Recently I read the Hunger Games, and am now reading the Earth's Children Series (which is AMAZING). I am always in the middle of at least two books!

I also love film. My partner and I are on a classics kick. We've watched Throne of Blood, It Happened One Night, and Rosemary's Baby. I love Anna and the King, Gone With the Wind (again!), and more recently, Easy A. I feel like I could list movies and books forever, so I'll stop.

Music! Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Regina Spektor, Rose's Pawn Shop... I love to be introduced to new music - especially local stuff!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I floated in the Dead Sea - that was wild!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know that every person's life experiences teach them things that only they can know - and I love to hear those stories. I hope to hear yours and to tell you mine! I also hope to learn your culture, and your language.
