About Me

I AM UNABLE TO HOST OVER CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR.

COVID -19 is a problem again, but I can still host under stricter conditions . I WILL STILL MEET UP AND SHOW YOU AROUND OR TAKE YOU FOR MEALS OR DRINKS. MIXING OUTSIDE IS DIFFERENT TO HAVING SOMEBODY LIVING IN. JUST CHECK IN WITH ME TO SEE CURRENT STATUS.

CURRENT MISSION

To continue to find new and interesting places to visit/ things to do , now that I have the time to do this

ABOUT ME

FREQUENTLY TRAVELING...PLEASE CHECK OUT COUCH INFORMATION.

Born in UK, raised in Iraq and Lebanon and then in English boarding school. Father in oil company. I have lived in UK, USA and , for the greater part of my life, in Australia. I have worked in many fields and run my own business's, the last of which was a string of commercial photographic studios.
Yes, I am in the upper age range but still have a lot of friends of all ages, I know where to direct visitors and I have time to act as guide if required. I ask only that people staying with me are honest, clean, interested in exploring Sydney and are INDEPENDENT. I have hosted quite a number of young travelers in recent times but I must admit that the CS guys I hosted several years ago seemed more understanding of CS than those recently.
If you ask to say with me please tell me why you think you want to stay with me.. If it's not personal request I will not accept.

In my life I worked too hard and am now learning to look for new experinces and influences so that I can focus the rest of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am modifying my profile to add the following that I notice other hosts put in their profiles and I now think is a good idea.

*If you contact me for a couch :
*Read my profile fully.
*Dont contact me if you havent taken the trouble to complete your own profile. I recently have had many requests from new surfers who obviously have not read my profile.
*Dont contact me if your sole aim is a free bed ( af course the bed IS free but sharing some experiences and ideas is the name of the game) Recently it seems that CS is full of people who don't understand the CS philosophy and are simple scrounging a free bed. This is not the name of the game.
* When you apply please confirm that you have read my profile and ask any questions that you might have.

This is a CLOTHES FREE environment, which doesn't mean I wander around naked all the time but it does mean that freedom is expected.
I only SLEEP NAKED and I only accept guests who are happy with this arrangement so if this is not for you it's better if you find another host. I don't want any misunderstanding or discussion about this.
If you choose to stay elsewhere I can still meet you and show you around Sydney.

In the last year or so since I joined CS I have had quite a few young people to stay here and, almost without exception they would all be welcome to return for longer periods if they ever visit Australia again and need a place to stay.I hope to host many more young people in Sydney and allow them to experience this part of the world whilst having a safe and secure base to come home to.
If you're a party animal I guess my place is NOT for you but if you want a convenient place from which to explore Sydney then this a good option.
NO smoking and absolutely NO DRUGS ( drinking excepted )
DON'T FORGET, confirm you have read my profile and say why you think you want to stay with me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only stayed with my a couple of CS friends , one CS friend Evelyn in her beautiful home in Germany, and Matej in Prague, otherwise I host but don't surf, despite many invitations but I do catch up with my surfers in various parts of the world when I travel and we share meals and drinks and experiences.

Interests

The usual, dining, theatre, cinema, music. and a lot of travel. There are many festivals in Sydney, film, performance etc and I participate in most of these.

  • performing arts
  • festivals
  • dining
  • movies
  • traveling
  • music
  • business
  • tourism

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list but in general I am very fond of classical , jazz and a wide variety of world music. Films of many kinds. Sydney hosts many film festivals and there is a myriad of small theatres, mostly in walking distance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

These mainly involve people that I have met or spent time with and I don't think I should put their names on the net but I will be happy to share with any visitors.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to learn. I wouldn't be presumtious to teach. I am happy to share anything that I can.

Please note that some references from surfers that have stayed with me are listed under the wrong section. This is because this site now asks if you are going to host YES - MAYBE - NO before there has been correspondence and several people have ended up staying after we have chatted but not put YES in the CS page.
Seems silly to me.
