About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore this world and beyond! To feel through the sense and dance with the night.

ABOUT ME

I see art projects in my future. A temple of illusions to taunt the mind and fool the eyes. An ever changing kaleidoscope you can dance in. And a maze of fluffy bright colors and textures by day, but come night it is blanketed in darkness that you must feel your way through. Dreams can come true.

I love a rye sense of humor! A good punch line or a cheeky quote and you've got my attention.

If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side.

"The Guide is definitive. Reality is frequently inaccurate."-Douglas Adams

"The impossible often has a kind of integrity which the merely improbable lacks."-Douglas Adams

My mission is to follow the whim of my inspiration and spread that joy of creative ah-ha deep into the subconsciousness of others! To live a life of sharing and chasing dreams while savoring the ecstasy in every moment. To be gracious to those who've raised the bar and lead by example, and to be a muse for those whose lives I touch.
It just may be the golden rule in its most glittering form :P

All of the universe is right here before us as our playground. All that it asks of us is to tell it what we want.

Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' was a keystone in my teens. His words spilled out like an arrhythmic rain of synchronicity and synaptic flashes. A romantic vision and a cathartic rush of being in the right place at the right time. That magic is everywhere and anywhere where the beholder has the vision to be.
So off I go into the wide world, on the road... and across the vast planes.

I don't plan too much when I travel... set goals, be curious, and see where the day takes you. Opportunity is everywhere you see it. Go with the flow and ride the wave of happenstance. Just let go and trust it, then you are sure to fall backwards into something deliciously unexpected.

Surprise me. Send me someplace like no other. All the quirky, weird things that make the destination unique are the target, as are favorite local hangs and places that come with a story. Lead me toward the pulse of painted electric avenues crawling with artists, writers, and insomniacs... where music hangs so thick in the room that it's occupants are intoxicated by sheer presence.

How I choose to experience everyday life:
I am a stimuli addict, enamored with all that is tangible, visceral and sensual. My tactile inclinations drive me to want to taste, touch, see, smell, and hear new things perpetually. (kinda like a raccoon that can't keep its paws out of trouble)

Nothing is so brilliant and exhilarating as being in LOVE! Life is short, learn to love it.... love yourself, love your friends, be in love with all the things that bring you joy in each day :)

I love all things elemental: water, fire, the open air, mud! I am seduced by the smell of the woods after a warm rain (petrichor) while watching the sun stripe through the trees with its golden dagger rays, making all the world glisten.
I love to lie splayed over soft sand, hypnotized by the rhythm of waves that could swallow me whole between peaceful breaths. I long for relaxation to the point of detachment, to be swept away from one reality and dropped into another. To capitulate to boundlessness while gazing deep into a vast sky of darkness, lost in vertigo... when it's twinkling flames seem to fall in on me as I search the constellations for shooting stars.

I'm a romantic and a realist, and paradoxical in a zillion other ways.
I love acting as if I am 6 years old: laughing, playing without a care in the world.
I live for silent moments of awe and dreaming beneath the clouds.
I love the openness of meditation followed by heightened sensory experience; to concentrate on the details and nuances, absorbing all of the stimuli in a vibrant saturation of oneness and as individualized sensations simultaneously.
I love to feel the energy of people and places, to reflect quietly and listen intently.
I crave intellectual queries over super-late-night coffees and games of go, or drawing on napkins by candlelight as I am mesmerized by Jazz musicians.
I love perusing dusty bookstores that smell of yellowing pages. I love the click and clack of old typewriters that shimmy as fingers gambol in a fury across round metal keys.
I love frequenting gallery galas to admire dreams made real in sculptures or to stare into souls through their projection on canvas... I love to breathe in an artist's space, inhaling the blood and oil of their toils, listening to the sounds that invoked their mood, while browsing personal libraries that reveal their inspiration, mastered skills, and fascinations.
I have an ardent appreciation for ornate buildings heavily laden with symbolism. I am intrigued by sacred objects and temples.
I have a dangerously devious desire to experience natural phenomena:P
I crave spontaneous road trips, moonlight picnics, beach bonfires, and probably more so than anything in the whole world.. I long for the endorphin rush induced by dancing 'til dawn.
Hiking, biking, & exploring breathtaking landforms is an act of spiritual communion for me. The awe I feel when I experience nature in its raw beauty is like a ritual dive into the expanse of all creation, leaving me to venerate the greatness of all that is beyond our skill or art.

How we interact:
Tell me your biggest fears and deepest desires, I hunger for all the stories and idiosyncrasies that make us human, that make us real and unique as snowflakes, that make us think and speak as we do. Engaging outside perspectives and challenging your beliefs, creating something beautiful... be it physical (art) or otherwise, learning, soul searching, finding hidden connections... these are the elements of meaningful moments.
I believe in embracing the here and now & leaving the confines of space and time behind by deconstructing the interpretive human perception.
Experience is not by vicarious accumulation, it is just being. Be what you desire; destiny is what you do in this and every moment.

Modus Operandi:
In a word, Chameleon. I tend to be more of the quiet type, geared toward intellectual musings. I can dial up a power surge of energy and pump up a party if the moment beckons, then subside back into the deep and people watch from the perimeter.

Balance is the key to everything. A time for drinking and a time for healing, so is the mantra of the health minded-hedonist.

Other points of intrigue and disclaimers:
Yes, I was a mechanic... no I do not have the tools to fix your car/motorcycle.
I DO read tarot. I also own a book called Sexual Astrology that is nearly guaranteed to make you laugh.

It's absolutely true that sharing your favorite wine or beers will score you points, especially Riojas and IPAs.
I love wine that snakes around your tongue in a juicy splash before almost ripping it from your mouth with its soft tannins.
I appreciate a well-hopped beer... and am not intimidated by strength; do your worst and see how many 21% beers I can drink and still stand after.

For seven fun filled years, I worked at the Riverside Theatre, running the backstage elevator. I've been recorded on many videos, countless people (some famous) sang Love in an Elevator to me, and I've even had dinner or drinks with a few of them. I also used to work the "pit" as security in this theater. Tori Amos stopped mid-song during a concert once, to have dialog with a girl who was pawing me up.

The rest you will have to uncover when we meet. Bring a pair of bunny ears and be ready to party.
If you don't have a plan of action, relay a message containing your favorite song, what your last meal would consist of, and one more thing you'd like to see before you die. I promise it will be night to remember.

PHILOSOPHY

Ultimately there is no substitute for experience and no excuse for ignorance.

"Sixth rule: No judgments, no juries, just FUN." -stolen from a Denver group thread!

We all experience life through our own 'Reality Tunnel,' structured from our self-erected 'B.S. (Belief Systems).' What we perceive is a reflection of what we project. Energy's characteristics are reflexive. Change your perception and you'll change your life.
We are only a fractional fragment in the scheme, yet each segment plays an integral aspect, symbiotic and significant. Indra's Net ;)
A stone hits the pond, it's impression ripples outward. We are all stones in the pond casting a frequency.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Over the years I've organized events big and small: from beer festival weekends in several states, to local mixers, art events including sizable festivals (Tentsurf, Apogaea), to helping initiate several couch crashes. I organize for the local Burning Man community and started Denver Costume Collective. I love sharing ideas and experiences with others interested in organizing events.

I aim to promote small business, local characters, and any place with an atmosphere to rival your wildest imagination. Look for the most eccentric hole in the wall bar and you'll probably find me there, throwing back a local microbrew against the pinball machine.

Always up for exploring around town... when home or away. If you are adventurous, in love with the world, and open to trying something new out??? you've just found a partner in crime!

Beyond that I also find this to be a great resource pool: to bring together people in a meeting of the minds, to forge lasting friendships, share experiences, and bridge cultures. It is a great way to gain perspective and a view through eyes from afar. It is a rich community of dreamers and doers that can breathe life into the best ideas to continue the trek of innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit. I intend to jump in head first and stay fully submerged :D

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Everyday opens a new door, a window into a new perspective, or a journey with a new friend.
It's quite a poetic way to thrive.

Good souls abound here!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am fascinated by what lies in the imagination of others. I am exhilarated when I can see it brought to life.

Metropolis (1926), Miller's Crossing, Donnie Darko, American Psycho, True Romance, Ghost Dog, Fight Club, Four Rooms, Snatch, Pan's Labyrinth, Red Violin, the Fall... whipsmart dialog, psychological-suspense, intensely beautiful visuals, dark humor, movies that make you go hmmm?!

Jazz (esp. hardbop and vocal),Cassandra Wilson, Kurt Elling, John Zorn, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Afghan Whigs, Deftones, Tool, Radiohead, Remy Zero, Morrissey, Depeche Mode, Koop, Portishead, Zero7, Muse, Coil, Covenant, VNV Nation, Rotersand, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, Pantera, Queensryche, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, NOFX, Justice, Crystal Castles, Daft Punk, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Venician Snares, BT, Kaskade, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Oceanlab, Delerium, Dead Can Dance, Jocelyn Pook, the Books, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Hayden, Elliot Smith, Jack Johnson, Ben Folds, Rufus Wainwright, Eric Satie, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Opera, 80's... Hey, variety is the spice of life! (and he who controls the spice rules the universe :P) Have music, will dance.. or thrash.

The stack besides the bed is ever evolving.
Favorite crafters of thought and word: Fritjof Capra, Walt Whitman, Shakespeare, Nietzsche, Hesse, Vonnegut, Frank Herbert, Grant Morrison, Robert Anton Wilson, David Sedaris, Dorthy Parker, Anais Nin, Chuck Palahniuk, Jack Kerouac, Alan Moore, Calvin Clawson, Simon Singh, Albert Pike.

I am a thirsty, thirsty sponge anxious for saturation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The natural world. The sky on a clear night. The full moon rising on the ocean. Sunrise after a storm.

Skydiving. Now I know why the birds sing :)

Cabo San Lucas. AMAZING! Whales do bellyflips? Yep, all day long :) Slept on the beach, under the stars, listening to the ocean all night. I need to live here!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach, learn, share. Amen.
Let's swap hats and see what happens... and if the shoes fit, I might go for a walk in them.
Do you believe in magic? That glimmer or spark when you share an a-ha moment is exhilarating! Find your fire, spread your light; we are building brighter futures one synapse at a time.
I love to connect with those(space monkeys!) who enjoy being ejected from our reality tunnels on a regular basis, people with voracious curiosities and intense desires to explore the unacknowledged world, states of consciousness, always seeking to expand or alter one's awareness through shared knowledge.
We are all gods. Let us create, together!
Let's draw each other, paint with our fingers, sound off spontaneous poetry, or engineer something electro.

Things I want to learn/do:
Photograhpy... behind the camera, and overcoming my shyness in front of one
Painting/Drawing... I'm self taught, but would love to apprentice or study with a master/ learn a new style
Tattooing... I want to study with a tribe and learn the ancient art form
Create beats... I was DJ Syneastasia in a former life, now I want to create my own beats and attempt vocals
All things esoteric... there is always much to learn
Meditation, it's an addictive art and there are many ways, many paths to enlightenment
Something unique that I can teach: Chaos Magick, making sigils
