About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploration. I want to taste the sights, hear the smells, and touch the sounds of this beautiful and interesting world.
ABOUT ME
Transplant from the Midwest in love with the West Coast.
Pursuing a life dedicated to the labors of love.
Friends consider me a creative, open minded free spirit and free thinker.
I take pleasure in small things.
Washing my dishes is a priority while making my bed is not.
I never want a television but can't live witout film;movies.
I will never listen to a book on tape or read one on a LCD screen.
Wish to some day own vinyl but still think IPOD's are amazing.
A bike is my mode of transportation. I like to go really fast down hills. I always wear a helmet.
Strawberry rhubarb pie is good but i think apple is still my favorite.
I live for flavor. I drink good coffee every day.
My beer palate is happy when hoppy. Wild belgian yeast and sours are really growing on me. Imperial stouts make me smile.
Culinary tinkering is my forte. Soup is a true passion and natural leavened bread has become an obsession. I built a wood fired oven in the back yard to bake pizza and loads of bread. (yeah.. it's getting serious)
PHILOSOPHY
I have come to accept that I know little about the world and where I am going in this world but know that I am happy. I strive to live off of the grid with personal freedom to explore this world and learn all that I can from direct experience.
Recently, I made an agreement with myself that I will not solely consume culture. It is important that we create a dialogue with the world around us. That we discuss that which inspires us. That we share our gifts and express our unique voices..
There is so much to say.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Had a wonderful experience couch surfing in Valparaiso. Have not had the freedom or opportunity to host nor get far away from home to surf in some time. Spread the CS gospel and hope to return the favor when I have the space to do so.
Interests
I love art, music, literature, history, aesthetics, hiking, backpacking, biking, taking walks, sitting in cafe's reading, gardening, volunteering for the community, spending time with friends, costume parties, chocolate, curiosity cabinets, messages in bottles, anonymous art, time capsules, sunsets, food, cooking, eating, and sharing.

Music, Movies, and Books
I live for this stuff. Books: Garcia Marquez, Murakami, Safran Foer, The Beats, Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing one sees, The Accidental Masterpiece, Lolita, Notes from Underground, and many more. Music, visual artists: Sarah Sze, NY Dada, West Coast FUNK, Deb Sokolow, Bruce Conner, Mark Dion, Marcel Broodthaers, Ed Kienholz, Robert Irwin, so much more.
Music: Dirty Projectors, Beirut, Sufjan Stevens, John Scofield, Early American Blues, Jazz, Folk, Bluegrass, Rock n Roll, really I like almost anything except electronic dance music, hardcore gangster rap, and modern country, I don't mind the traditional stuff. I can't deny the history and the emotion that comes through. Medeski, Martin, and Wood, The Devil Makes Three, Devendra Banhart, Department of Eagles, Grizzly Bear, Mount Eerie, Bon Iver, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the list goes on and on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Awkward Ostrich like birds waddling around an oasis set against mountains hovering above a nonexistent horizon in the middle of a Bolivian salt flat. Whoa!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you everything I know about baking and food. About basic bicycle maintenance. I can teach you to play dominoes and cribbage, to play basic cords on a guitar, I can read to you, and chat about books and movies for hours.
I want to learn more about: growing food, cooking, bicycle maintenance, carpentry, poetry, nutrition, the cosmos, art, literature,
