About Me
ABOUT ME
I am a professional photographer and English teacher, but sometimes it feels like the list of my interests is endless. I am fascinated by all kind of professions and I love to learn about how people got to where they are in their lives.
I am inspired by driven people and I find that there is something to learn from everyone.
As for my story, I grew up in a tiny village in the mountains of Transylvania, and as far as I can remember I wanted to do two things: to take pictures and to travel. And I feel that as long as I can do those two things, no matter how large or small scale I am doing them, my life is complete.
I travel so that I can see and experience different ways of life and document as much of it as I can. I like to immerse myself in local culture while keeping in touch with other travelers as well so that I can learn about life through my own as well as other people's experiences. I find oftentimes that I am guided towards humanitarian issues by life, so I try to volunteer and be of help to people any way I can. I love the arts and I practice it too.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been on couchsurfing for many years, and I've met some amazing, fascinating people. I have mostly been hosted as I don't have a permanent base, but I've always had great experiences wherever I went.
Interests
Photography, music, arts and culture, movies, dancing, yoga and swimming.
I love going hiking and discovering new places in nature.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like many genres of mostly alternative electronic music and techno (Solomun, Oliver Koletzki, Ron Flatter etc.) but I will listen to just about anything from reggae, through blues to salsa music.
Books: Carlos Castaneda: The teachings of Don Juan and his other books; Ekhart Tolle: New Earth; Don Miguel Ruiz: The Mastery of Love; Julia Cameron: The Artist's Way; Junot Diaz: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao; H.G. Wells: The War of the Worlds
Movies: Anything directed by Paolo Sorrentino, Cristopher Nolan, Wes Anderson or Denis Villeneuve. I can watch the Office or Brooklyn 99 any amount of times. I was also a huge Game of Thrones fan until the last season. I love movies and series in general and I will give any one of them a go if I feel it's worthwhile (except for gory horrors, but a good thriller I will watch)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Hitchiking through most of Southern Europe
- Hiking 500 kms on the Camino de Santiago in 3 weeks
- Traveling through Belize, Guatemala and Mexico in the course of eight months doing a documentary project on migration
- getting my driver's licence in Malta (one of the craziest places to drive a car)
