About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn all there is to know from travels and travelers.

ABOUT ME

Things I love: Yoga, writing, wine, good food, laughter.
Things I don't love: Red ink, being cold.

PHILOSOPHY

I live life to be happy. I value my friends and family above everything else. I do not believe that happiness is born of comfort and ease, but of exploration and experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed through California in the summer of 2012. I would like to host one day, but haven't yet found the opportunity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed but never hosted. One day when I have my own couch, I hope to complete the circle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Africa took me outside of my comfort zone in the realest way to date. On one hand, I should have been nestled smack dab in the middle of that zone. I was there visiting friends who teach at Bikram Yoga Nairobi. On the other hand, apartments and commercial areas are surrounded by barbed wire and gate guards. You're never supposed to walk at night. There was a bombing in the city while I was there. The mall is patrolled by police with machine guns. In a matter of minutes you can drive from affluence into slum. From mansions to no running water or sewage system. They burn trash by the side of the street. And yet, while visiting a village outside Nairobi called Limuru, a family welcomed my friend and I into their home, all the children piled into the tiny living room to ask us questions and play with our hair. They fed us, laughed with us and asked nothing in return. When we asked the kids what they had done that fine Sunday they answered, "pray," and when asked what they were going to do they answered with big smiles "play." When I arrived in Kenya, I was uncertain as to how anyone could choose to live there in the midst of conflict. When I left I was sad to say goodbye because I had just started to understand.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the basics of genetics and cellular mechanics. I can also teach you when to use "who" and when to use "whom" as well as how to keep your spine healthy.

Whatever you have to teach me, I would love to learn. I have always wanted to
-play guitar
-speak Spanish
-learn to surf
-poach an egg

And so very much more.
