ABOUT ME
I like rooftops in the summer, cabins in the winter, footpaths in the forest, alleys in the city, breakfast in the morning and friends in the evening.
I grew up in a small town in the mountains but have enjoyed city living my whole life. This rural-urban tension is an important part of me and it's a major source of my inspiration to see more of the world.
Here are some things that I'd like to do in my life:
- own a dog
- visit Istanbul, Katmandu, Taipei, Sao Paulo, Saigon, (the list goes on)
- finish reading James Joyce's masterpiece: Ulysses (I'm currently at page 189, but I've had to start over more than a couple times)
- learn to fish
- master my ability to speak and read French
PHILOSOPHY
Respect and reciprocity.
Cooperation over competition.
Mind over matter.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My couch surfing experience began in 2008 with a trip to Brooklyn, New York. It was an eye-opening experience and since then I have surfed a handful of couches but mainly I have hosted travelers at my own place in Seattle. The people who've passed through my apartment have each impacted me in their own subtle way and I'm super thankful to have had a chance to meet each of them.
I enjoy giving travelers a window into this city and into the life of a local. Perhaps they could stumble upon this experience if they stayed in a hotel or a hostel, but I like to think that it's a little more special/real/memorable this way.

Interests
I'm a fan of the outdoors and keeping active. Desert campfires, ocean sunrises, taking a deep breath at the crest of a long-pursued summit... these things are unbeatable.
I read on occasion and will graciously accept any recommendations for good books to check out.
That said, I really enjoy nightlife and am always down to hit up a new spot or introduce new friends to some of my favorite watering holes. Cultural events, fiestas/religious celebrations, national holidays, house parties, raves, and dinner parties are all cool in my book and I'm game for any such event - especially if it's new to me.
In Seattle I fill my free time with the three things this city does best: coffee shops, live local music, and trips out into the mountains that surround this small city.
