ABOUT ME

I finished university in 2010, and since then have been drifting about while trying to figure out what's next for me. I've been taking it a few months at a time, alternately working and travelling. I'm trying to find out what I want to do with my life; in the meantime, there's always more travel to be done!
I'm a pretty friendly and easygoing guy, interested in everything a little bit (but not enough in any one thing to begin a career in it, apparently!)
I talk a lot about all the different languages I wish I could speak: for now, I'd like to focus my efforts on becoming fluent in French.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently not able to offer a couch, but I'm open to connecting with others by surfing or attending events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couch-surfed officially, but I have been hosted by friends of a friend in the Netherlands (and ended up becoming friends with them and living with them a year later). Also, in 2010 I had the good fortune to work alongside locals on an archaeological excavation in rural Jordan. We became friends and they have very generously taken me and my Canadian friends camping in the desert on more than one occasion. Their kindness is unforgettable and I'll always cherish the memories of those great cross-cultural experiences!

Interessen

I love languages, travelling, trivia, swimming, and hanging out with friends (perhaps while enjoying a pint). I studied ancient history in school and am an archaeology nerd: a lot of my travel revolves around exploring ancient monuments/ruins. I also love getting out of the city to experience the natural beauty that different countrysides have to offer!

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love offbeat/weird comedy shows and movies like Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Monty Python, etc. I also like a good thriller like Inception or the Bourne trilogy. And I enjoy the classics too.
Music-wise, I like a bit of everything, but mostly alternative/indie rock. My favourite bands and artists include Feist, Metric, Broken Social Scene, The Tragically Hip, and Joanna Newsom.
I haven't been reading much lately but I am trying to get back into it! Book recommendations are welcome :)

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

VIP tour of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece (got to stand on the roof of the Parthenon!); camping in the desert with Jordanian Bedouin; seeing wild tigers on a jeep safari in Bandhavgarh National Park, India.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I am certified to teach English as a Second Language, and I'm a pretty good swimming teacher!
I NEED TO LEARN TO COOK. And I'm always interested in learning a new language! I'd also be happy to learn more about nature, gardening, astronomy, and just about anything else you can teach me.
