About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just doin what I do, enjoying life and the folks around me.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Central Illinois, and went to university there. I've since done a fair bit of traveling and meandering about. I came out to Fort Collins to visit a friend two springs ago and never quite left. I've been doing Conservation (trail work)for a few years now and love having the parks and open spaces as my office. I enjoy backpacking, zen, reading, exercise, beer, cooking, and sometimes making little works of art.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is fun, lets do it again sometime...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I had the opportunity to host several folks passing through Fort Collins when I had my apartment there. It was a cool experience. Always wished I'd had more time to hang.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with a guy named Scott in Hawaii for a day, good time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books that come to mind; Catch 22, Zealot, Fahrenheit 451, The Harry Potter series. I've read a hand full of spiritual literature; Stephen Mitchell's translation of the Tao te Ching is a favorite. Thomas Byrom's Dhammapada. I love anything by Ram Dass, his writing has a clear, colorful energy to it. I like movies a lot. My current favorite film is Dead Man(1995). I love the Battlestar Galactica series from the 2000s. I like most music. I grew up on pop-country so I find it hard to hate on. heh. I like bluegrass a lot but, will listen to anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Colorado Trail this most recent summer (2014), about 300 miles of the Arizona Trail (2013), and covered about 200 miles with a friend on the Appalachian Trail (2012). I have seen Sunrise over Lake Victoria, Zip-lined through the cloud forests of Mt. Verde, hiked and failed to hike mountains in Colorado, took a drive across country, learned to play some songs in northern Uganda, worked on a trail crew, made Kim-chee with some monks and nuns in South Korea, Ive also swam in some beautiful waters and had sand stuck in my ear for about 6 months. Most importantly, I've had the pleasure of meeting some very beautiful and amazing people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I find good stories, experiences, failures to be the most influential, quality teaching tool.

I know lots of science stuff and love to get talkin about stars, the cosmos, and philosophy.

I plan on learning more Arabic.
