About Me

Hi! My name is Taavetti and I'm 20 years old dude from Finland who loves to laugh, enjoy life and challenge myself.

I'm really bad at staying in one place more than a couple months since I get bored really quickly. That's why I travel. There's nothing in this world that beats the excitement and joy of finding myself in completely new circumstances, filled with weird noises, surrounded by different people, in a place that allows me to start over and enjoy the moment.

I think that life is worth living. Like Gandalf said in Lord of The Rings: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." I don't want to be that old-timer whining in their rocking chair, regretting all the un-done things. That's a great motivator to do stuff, though.

But anyway, my biggest passions for life are Parkour and filmmaking. I started to train this urban sport because I wanted to learn how to express myself through movement, and really feel myself free while jumping, vaulting and flipping. Filmmaking for me is a way of capturing my life as it is. Storytelling is a big part of me and my YouTube channel is like an open conversation between me and the viewer. I courage you to check it out too!

I've been traveling quite lot, but not as much as I want. My experience is limited to Europe, but believe me, I will expand it. My first trip was Spain, and the I have been doing Interrailing, backpacking and parkour training trips all around Europe and my homeland Finland.

Long story short: we only die once but live every day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking for that authentic touch from places I visit, and even though this is cliche, it's experienced the best through human connection.

I like new people, getting around with locals and having adventures with them. It's so much easier to see cool stuff with local friend than try to find all the places by myself.

Also, I'm broke af so couchsurfing is a budget friendly option for me. But hey, one can't buy the best experiences with only money, right?

But yeah, maybe the biggest reason for being here is that I want more than normal "tourist" touch and this is really good way to dig deep into the adventure.

I haven't hosted myself yet, and I haven't had a host through CS (that's why I don't have any references, sorry...), but I have been using similar approach in my travels, for example messaging Danish parkour athletes for training company and accomodation. Great success!

In the future I want to host travelers in my oen apartment and give back since I have received so much myself.

Interests

I like to do many things, and parkour and filmmaking are one of my biggest passions. I've been training for 3 years now, and I love the sport and the worldwide community! Filmmaking and vlogging are interesting things for me since I love to capture moments, tell stories and deliver feelings to my viewers. Right now I have had my YouTube channel almost two years now! I also play guitar and arrange music, but lately I have been really lazy about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock music for the win! Queen, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Toto and so on. Nothing beats these beats. I'm really bad at listening to new music, but sometimes all it takes is one right click, and my playlists are filled with fresh rhymes.

I really like to read, but I am really lazy reader. I would like to make it a habit, but I'm really picky about what I read since I can't concentrate... But as with a music, all it takes is one right book and I sit 8 hours straight and can't feel my ass after that. Good fantasy books, self help, biographies and comics. Aww yiss! I also like to write a lot. I do journaling and planning and that's the main way how I reflect and learn new stuff. Really recommend that one!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well that's hard to pick only one so I break the rules (hahaa) and bring more stuff to the table:

We climbed Parisian roof with my french friend and saw Eifel tower, Louvre and Notre Dame from up above the city. So good!

Tried to eat surströmming with my Swiss friend (read: tried. It was horrible). It is once in a lifetime experience, since once you taste it you never have to eat it again. And you would not want to, anyway.

I slept a night in the garden of Sweden's Parliament house since I didn't find a host for a night. At that night I was scared by bunch of Latvian geocatchers that I thought were police trying to arrest me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Yeah I can teach you how to become a modern ninja who leaps from skyscraper to another and looks cool 24/7. Well, not exactly but of course we can train together and have fun. We can also film some stuff and enjoy random adventures, on ground level or higher. I'm also a good storyteller so if you like to sit down with a good drink and listen, hit me up.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Of course when you decide to host me I can give you my warm and energic persona, good stories, laughter and some Finnish melancholy (just kidding, I 'm not a really stereotypical Finn...). Also, we can train Parkour if you're brave enough, shoot some videos, sing, and cook together. I can pay for my own food, a roof above my head is least I can ask (and good company). If we will meet in my travels, I will bring you something from my homeland Finland. Just for you, my friend!
