About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to be a fearless Deafblind traveler experiencing the world through my hands
ABOUT ME
Call me Coco! I'm a 36 year olf woman who's Deaf and has very little vision left. My mission right now is to see the world before I become completely blind. I was born with Retinitis Pigmentosa, which robs my sight over time. I don't have much sight left so it's been a dream to see the rest of the world. After graduating from university, I volunteered 1 1/2 years in Nigeria, West Africa with VSO, a rewarding experience. Now I'm 59 countries richer in experience and have 3 years as a resident of Nepal and 6 months of Chile in my pocket! to explore the continent! Hope to stay with you/meet you someday! Namaste!
PHILOSOPHY
Try to feel what you can't see, even if you have sight.
- Coco Roschaert, 2005
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Educating the world's population about people who live with two disabilities - Deafness and blindness - and what it means to live in a world of silence and darkness with sign language. I communicate with pen and paper with hearing people, so they can be able to communicate with me comfortably.
