About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Complete master's degree, leave academia, travel to the west coast, work on a farm, find a job as an engineer, solve problems.

ABOUT ME

Hey Friends, after growing up in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH and living in the Appalachian foothills college town of Athens, OH, I'm now settling in for some years in the Rocky Mountain border town of Boulder Colorado. I like moving: running, biking, hiking, dancing, swimming. I'm passionate about solving problems along the lines of food, environmental, and social justice activism. I study engineering to use my left brain to do something worthwhile for a society full of problems--presently learning to be a researcher studying the wonders of biology with specific thoughts on protein dynamics and functions. Lots of my free time is geared toward food things: cooking, fermenting, eating, talking, and thinking about where it comes from and what it's doing for me and to the world. I do lots of fermenting to make alcohol, kombucha, milk and water kefir, and sour dough. I love the social connection of playing music with other people, with my skills being hand drums, particularly traditional Arabic rhythm and style of the dumbek, but have other drums to enjoy and share. I love traveling and all the good people and places it connects me to, but am presently taking time learning skills and putting roots in Boulder, but having a visitor is as good as being a visitor, so be welcome.

PHILOSOPHY

Good things keep happening.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent the summer of '09 on a cross-country biking tour working with affordable housing groups along the way with a non-profit called Bike & Build (check it out, definitely a thing) and got to bum church floors all summer.
