About Me

I’m Tahir, a filmmaker and the founder of Agra Heritage Walks. For the last decade, I’ve been working at the intersection of heritage, storytelling, and community-led tourism. My work takes people beyond monuments and into the lived spaces of cities—homes, lanes, crafts, kitchens, and conversations that rarely make it into guidebooks.

Filmmaking is how I document stories; walking is how I experience them. I believe cities reveal themselves slowly—through people, food, rituals, light, and everyday life. Whether it’s Agra, Banaras, Lucknow, or anywhere else, I’m always more interested in the soul of a place than its postcard version.

I host travelers who are curious, respectful, and open to engaging with local communities. My home is in the old city of Agra, and staying here is less about “accommodation” and more about immersion—sharing meals, stories, walks, and perspectives.

If you enjoy meaningful conversations, slow travel, heritage, cinema, and seeing cities through human stories rather than checklists, we’ll get along just fine.

I’m always happy to guide, listen, and exchange stories from the road.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why are we at CS ?

We are here to learn from what the CS community has to offer. We have had the privlledge to host some really amazing people who made us their family and taught us so much about life. We love the energy that travellers get to our space.

Who do we host ?

We like to host only long terms hosts. So if you are coming to Agra just to see Taj then most probably we will not be interested in hosting you. But if you are actually looking to see the city beyond its touristy monuments and are looking to be a part of community life then we will be happy to host you. As such there is no bar on how many days you can stay with us. We have had instances where people came for 2 days but ended up staying for 20 days and we totally loved it. So we are looking for people who are on a journey, not really tourists.

We will be happy to host people who want to collaborate with us. So if there is something on your mind for Agra/India please get in touch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ka Roberto Calasso, 1984 George Orwell, Metamorphosis Kafka, The Stranger by Camus, Hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world by Murakami are some of my recent reads.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Planned two trips with parents, made them very happy. If you have ever travelled with your parents you will understand how complex that is :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you photography, I would like to learn about how you see things and know about your life and what makes you YOU .

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a host, I’m happy to share my favorite city recommendations—and if I’m around, I love to chit-chat about Agra and the history of India. Guests are welcome to share the kitchen with us, swap recipes, and even rent a cycle from us to explore the city at their own pace.
