About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To inspire people to travel and explore through photography and media

ABOUT ME

I was born & raised in a small town in the big mountains of Lake Tahoe. I'm in love with the outdoors; you will find me in the mountains skiing, hiking, biking, camping, and exploring. When not at home I love to travel. My goal is to travel to and experience all 196 countries by the time I die. I do my best to document and share all my travels on my website TahoeMatt.com. I am ambitious, driven, and creative individual that is always looking to try new things, meet new people, and learn from it all.

I am all about adventurous things. I love exploring the new and unknown, meeting new people, hearing interesting and inspirational stories over a drink, and doing loads of sports and adventures. I’m a passionate skier, golfer and thinker.

Nothing is better than a HUGE Mexican burrito and a corona after a long adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't wait to meet all you incredible people from all over the world. Surfing couches is unbelievably cool cause it is all about inspiring people, bringing them together and providing a mutual beneficial (couching) service.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I’ve stayed in barns, apartments, and houses. The best part about CS is the people you meet and their local knowledge. There is this thing that I call the "knowledge gap" in traveling between the resident/host and the traveler/surfer... I will explain > in normal travel you stay at a hostel or a hotel, you might have plans or non at all. You can read guidebooks, search Google, or ask info/concierge services to figure out what you want to do (what are the best hikes, restaurants, tours, experiences, places, etc in that particular destination). All this takes time, time you don’t want to waste when traveling. CS effectively eliminates this knowledge gap as your host is a local and can advise you on everything above in a lovely conversation. Best of all it is FREE and if you are lucky your host will be able to join you on whatever you choose/decide on.
