About Me

After training and working in the health field back in Australia, the last few years has been about deepening my personal growth through a journey of travel. I call it my Masters in the University of Life. I'm fond of learning about people, culture and community, and am connected with an NGO in Nepal which inspires me greatly. I'm passionate about integrative approaches to health and wellbeing and drawing upon the wisdom of various modalities. Art therapy is something I am drawn to very much.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to stay with locals when I travel and although i have only used couch surfing a few times, I am regularly staying with people when I travel and using sites like helpx, wwoofing and housesitting. I find I tend to receive a more authentic local feel to a place which I greatly appreciate. And i get to meet many gorgeous folk along the way!

Interests

I love trying new things, picking up new skills for my toolbox in life as i go, and realising things i totally dig! Like the garden, foraging, finding new things to make tea with, creating magic in the kitchen, opportunities to get creative and sample various art forms, getting along to community events, festivals, writing, spending time with trees, and having a good dance.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a wide range of music and enjoy the buzz of seeing live music. Hearing some Billie Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald will make me smile :)

Movies I adore include Amelie, Lion, the Book Thief, Corrina Corrina, Samsara, Wish I Was Here, Hidden Figures, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beaches.

Currently I am reading Shantaram, written by an Aussie about his time in India. He has a very eloquent and descriptive writing style. I enjoy reading about a country I've visited and how it can evoke memories of my own travels.

Other books... Labyrinth, The Dressmaker, Mullawindy, The Red Tent, Whatever Arises Love That

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Co-created a wonderful community event and fundraiser for Nepal earthquake relief :)

Teach, Learn, Share

More and more I find we all have gifts to exchange with each other and am often surprised by what I am learning from others and perhaps what another may be learning from me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to contribute to you or your home in some way that would be useful to you. Perhaps it could be cooking a meal? You could join me for some stretch (a system based on manipuri martial arts). I am also keen for sharing a good chat over a cup of tea... very often I carry stashes of teas in my bag :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, Scotland, Spain, Thailand, United States, Wales
