Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See how people tick, how they relate to their environment.
ABOUT ME
In this life you have to laugh or at least smile a lot about things. Like to philosophise about existence but let's not take it too seriously.
I am responsible for how I handle life and its events, and you are also for yours, so don't pass the buck.
I've lived in a few cities but in the end they do my head in.
I'm basically a country person. I need nature around me.
I am gay but this is not an invitation for sex, but let's face it we are all interested in people's sexuality.
I view the world from a left wing penchant, but believe me there are extremists on both side of the spectrum.
Some what alternative type with ideology of the 70's, vegetarian, voluntary simplicity etc.
Not the loud party type.
Atheist,
No interest in talking about god and theology, motors or sports.
PHILOSOPHY
Acceptance. If I can't accept people's way of being at least I'll tolerate them. If I can't tolerate them I'll just walk away. Don't get me wrong there are things one should not walk away from. Live and let live goes a long way to making life on this planet half bearable.
Remember that what ever you are ie; Afghan, man, right wing, muslim, in my books is largely a random combination of events, so let's not get too patriotic or tribal about ourselves.
Remember if there were only 1000 people on the planet only 18 would be white. Because Caucasians have been running the show for 500 years doesn't mean we are better than the rest, just that we were better fighters, more ruthless and brutal. You don't get to the top of the heap by being nice.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Been going round and round this planet for a couple of decades at least, getting to understand humanity in its essence rather than just its outer form. Understanding culture as mainly a product of geography and climate. So by immersing oneself in these environments one eventually becomes one of those people or at least gets a feeling for it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Pre internet days, yes there was a time when we lived without it, I was a member of Servas, a very similar organisation.
Interests
Beauty, the poetry of life; from a modern bridge to a dog greeting me with a wagging tail. Architecture, design, linguistics, sociology, geography, climate, history, life. Plants are my favourite life form. Sorry people, you are a very close second.

Music, Movies, and Books
Easy listening, bluesy, radio pop. Not into movies much anymore.
Books pretty much anything except biographies and sci fi.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Inner journeys and outer journeys.
The long road to becoming the man I wanted to be, not a generic clone.
Realisation of all my life long dreams.
Solo paddle down 2000 km of the Murray, Australia's longest river. 40 day walk on the Jacobean way/ Camino de Compostela.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to think I've lived to the fullest with what my biology and social conditioning has given me. I've come to some conclusions about life and living and it would be nice to share and exchange them with others. New view points are always interesting, challenges keep your senses alive.
