About Me
Let's see. .. I used to be obsessed with traveling, snowboarding and surfing, but now that I'm traveling less I've been getting into things on my bucket list. I'm definitely forcing a sedentary lifestyle at the moment, and it has been great to get into other activities besides snowboarding and surfing. I seem to get into something to the point where it takes over my life and I put everything else on hold . .. . Mmmmmmmm so yeah, I'm currently in the skill-acquisition phase of my life. I love seeing new places and meeting people, but activities fuel my desire to travel. What can I say? Life is good and I love it!
PHILOSOPHY
A big part of my upbringing was the idea that you treat others the way you like to be treated, and I strive to stick to that as much as possible. I just try to understand and feel where people are coming from so that I can enjoy their outlook and gain perspective, because that's how I would like them to approach me and our friendship. Everyone is amazing in some way or another, and it's much easier to respect and love them if you can recognize and appreciate what makes them so amazing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What I really value about the couchsurfing experience is the inclusion; relating to a place with a local or while in the home of a local gives me the chance to experience a place almost as if I were a local myself. It's all about relating to a place, and how better to relate to a place than with a local, and through their wealth of experience! |Plus it's nice to be part of a household and spend time with people in a more family-like setting. So far I've enjoyed cooking, beers and meals with hosts and activities and sights around town.

Music, Movies, and Books
Mmmmmm, I really dig old school hip hop and rap. I've always got room in my ears for rock... I've really developed a soft spot in my heart for pop and alternative music over the last five years. .. I'm pretty open-minded about music.
I don't watch a ton of movies, but I love documentaries and international movies. And I won't say no to a cliché Hollywood production either : )
Books are almost always taken on by recommendation and I can't really say what makes a book enjoyable for me. It's groovy when a book resonates with how you're feeling at the moment, or if it answers some questions you've been contemplating.
There's a lot to be enjoyed in the musical, cinematic and literary world.
Some of my favorites:
Movies - Super Troopers, Office Space, The Usual Suspects, Ace Ventura (both), Anchorman, The English Patient. ..
Music - all of the classic rock stuff, Broken Social Scene, Stars, Alt J, Dan Croll, Kings of Leon, Bonobo, RHCP, Modest Mouse, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd. ..
Books - Touching the Void, Into Thin Air, Into the Wild, The Alchemist, Breakfast of Champions, A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. ..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Over the years I've taught a lot of people how to snowboard. It's something that I'm as passionate about as snowboarding itself, and I don't think there's anything I feel more privileged or fortunate to have done than to have shared my passion with all sorts of people.
I have been lucky enough to share experiences with people that have provided them with pure happiness and to see that is amazing. I have also done things that have allowed me to feel nothing but pure contentment and happiness, and to me that's the most amazing feeling in the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people to snowboard, but I try to teach others ANYTHING I know how to do (even if I'm only a total beginner : ) I'll always share my insights with anyone that is interested. I know more about physical activities and the body than I do about anything else I suppose, so that's my largest reservoir to teach from. I've also been in the construction and trades world for a long time, so I have practical skills that I'm always happy to share with others.
I'd LOVE to learn more about making surfboards, snowboards and skateboards. I also really want to learn the basics of how to sculpt clay. Any kind of art or creative process is super interesting to me, so I love being a part of the experience, even if it's just as a spectator.
I TRY to share as much as possible, even my limited material possessions, and I hope people feel how much I appreciate sharing a moment or experience WITH them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Any information or experience that I can relate to someone who's interested is something I'm more than happy to share. I love sharing a laugh and a story, and food and beer or wine are good things to share while sharing those things ; )
