Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Scaling peaks, descending canyons, painting and living the life!
ABOUT ME
I am an adventurous, open-minded individual who strives to live outdoors and be inspired to paint from my experiences. I am a nature lover and I currently work in Olympic National Park as a backcountry ranger.
I am also avid in the sport of canyoneering, especially in places like Zion National Park. It is an activity I will continue to strive and challenge myself in.
I play with three mediums: drawing, painting and sculpture. Since I do tend to move around a lot, I prefer painting murals. I love backpacking, camping, canyoneering and scaling peaks.
You can usually find me reading, hiking & backpacking, sketching, enjoying a good cup of coffee and engaging in fun maybe weird but intellectual conversation.
PHILOSOPHY
Learn to love, life is too short to hold grudges. Once you accept love into your heart the possibilities are endless. On that note- do what you love, don't let anyone else tell you different.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participate by being a couch surfer and host. I also implore others to do the same
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed in a few cities on the west coast of the united states when I was backpacking/hitch hiking around the country. I also couchsurfed on a number of couches in South America.
I am planning a trip to Asia for 5 months starting at the end of this year, so anyone who has been to India, Nepal or Tibet, your advice would very much be appreciated.
Interests
Life, art, environmental sciences, anthropology, mythology, sociology, camping/backpacking, galleries, maps, good bourbon, books, charcoal drawings, sea foam, mountains, culture, acrylics, fires, micro breweries, waterfalls, different foods & cuisines from around the world, forests, mint chip, good coffee, murals, burnt toast, wine + cheese, canyoneering, scary stories and everything that is nature.
Music, Movies, and Books
There are far to many musicians that come to mind. I grew up listening to 90's grunge, got into the grateful dead in high school and then electronic/trance as well as rap in college. My music library is pretty eclectic.
I however don't care for country music or Jimmy Buffet. Here are just a few highlights in the literature I read: Joseph Campbell, Henry David Thoreau, Stephen King, Hunter S Thompson, Cormac McCarthy, Edward Abbey.
I am a huge sci-fi/horror movie geek; It is my favorite genre of film.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy and Amsterdam. This experience has ultimately changed my life and inspired me to travel.
I've had a painting of mine displayed in Florence and Athens.
I explored the American West by hitch hiking and backpacking in as many national parks that I could muster in 3.5 months by myself.
I hitch hiked and backpacked to Machu Pichu
I climbed a 19,098 ft active volcano in south america
Spent 6 days alone in the Pinacate Biosphere in Mexico investigating lava cones and sacred volcanoes.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am knowledgeable in cult movies, canyoneering, the American Southwest, the Wind River Range, Utah, fine whiskey and Batman.
