About Me
Instagram: @bobotamamushi
I am a Japanese Manga artist (cartoonist, graphic novelist), who's traveling around the world with my iPad.
As I grew up in an international science city and my mother is a bilingual English speaker, I grew up with many expats in my hometown.
So it was natural to think about traveling around the world.
I've lived in U.S., UK, China, Spain and Czech, and visited more than 40 countries.
Although I already decided my mind to become a cartoonist since I was very little
and even had an editor to work with since I was 16,
it took so much time for me to come back to original dream as I was interested in too many things.
I studied International Relations and French medieval history as I thought they could be good materials for my story writing.
Also, when I did one year of exchange in Seattle, I took architecture drawing course to gain skills of drawing background scenery.
Then I got interested more in architecture and studied abroad again in Spain after my graduation of the university in Japan.
But I noticed I still wanted to be a cartoonist more than an architect
so I quit the school and went back to Japan,
then started working at a harsh real estate company to return the tuition to my parents,
broke my stomach with stress,
quit job in 6 months, started working again at an IT company to save some more money,
quit again in 1 year,
then finally I started drawing manga again
to won an amateur competition to be qualified as a pro manga artist in 2021.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a story writer, I'd love to hear stories about others' lives, especially from different cultural background.
I usually stay at hostels to make new friends but as JPY dropped too low recently, I can afford the cheapest hostels, then they tend not to have nice common space and hard to make friends anymore.
So for the first time in 12 years after I registered for the couch surfing website, I finally decided my mind to use this platform to have more rich cultural experience!
Interests
I'm interested in visiting historical sights and experience cultural stuff, which can’t be found in my home country.
I love to go to some classical music concerts.
I grew up with it as my mother is a pianist and my dad's biggest hobby is playing the violin, and I myself play the cello.
I also love pop music and sometimes create song with DAW.
