About Me

Life took an unexpected turn and I ended up balancing on top of mountains all over the world - without a medical degree but with tons of stories to tell and an American prince charming by my side.

More than 4 years ago, I fell in love with an American as I was traveling Spain, and Alex and
I are now traveling indefinitely because we can't be together in either of our home countries..
To document our crazy journey, we started our blog:
www.sweetdistance.com
Instagram @sweetdistance
We both work online as digital nomads. So for now, travelling is not only a hobby but our permanent lifestyle.
**UPDATE: We finally settled down in Copenhagen and are now traveling more sporadically ;)

PHILOSOPHY
In any given situation you have the choice in between doing nothing, and nothing will be gained, or doing SOMETHING, in which case nothing OR something will be to gain. So what's to lose?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Have been surfing on my travels and hosted a lot back in Copenhagen. I have done Airbnb, Couchsurfing, Housesitting ect. and, having lived in strangers' houses for more than 3 years now, so I definitely know how to be a good and helpful houseguest. I am AWESOME at washing dishes!

I truly believe there is no other online community that is both as honest and open as Couchsurfing and is also as active in real ACTUAL life. I adore hosting as much as surfing, and always make sure to catch those CS meetups wherever I am.

Interests

When I'm on my own, I enjoy walking around, playing "fly on the wall" and simply experience the smells, sounds, colors and moods of the world around me as a quiet spectator.
When I'm not, I like asking brutally honest questions that make people wonder why there are so many things people never ask.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

2015: What to choose? I´ve been leaning over the edge of Grand Canyon, been tasting wines and olives in Argentina, milking goats in Greece, dancing on a vulcano on Fuerteventura, climbing mountains in Spain, river rafting in Thailand, shopping on Rodeo Drive, snorkeling in Turkey, jumping the border to Myanmar, sailing in Venice, been a bridesmaid at a Las Vegas wedding, falling in love in Granada, drinking coffee on Crete, eating croissants in Paris, been hunted by dogs in a Thai jungle, painting art on the walls of the most colorful city in Chile and exploring underwater lakes in Mexico. Just to name a few :)

2017: Managed to be a 10 out of 10 on the happiness scale for almost 4 years.

Teach, Learn, Share

Tips for Copenhagen!
Explore:
If you want to experience the more local and less clean part of Copenhagen - take a walk down "Nørrebrogade" in the Nørrebro area.
Eat:
Try danish pastry and choose the "kanelsnegl" since that is the best - an authentic cinnamon roll made with croissant dough yum!
The most traditional danish open rye bread sandwich (and in my opinion the best) is the one called "leverpostej" with pickled beetroot on top. I am not telling you what it is made of, but do try it!
Stay:
If you can't find a host, I warmly recommend "Generator Hostel" since it has an awesome location. Don't go there if you want peace and quiet though ;)
Sightseeing:
Oh! And when/if you go to see the little mermaid statue, wear really warm clothes because it is always the coldest and most windy spot in the city!
Bars and restaurants:
"Skindergade" and "Gothersgade" are good bar streets in city center. Generally cheap eats in copenhagen don't exist. We don't have anything in between a nice restaurant and a fast food place. "Sunset" is a good and rather healthy fastfood place.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My boyfreind Alex is a freetime photographer, and we always offer our hosts to do a professional photoshoot, doing portraits and headshots for professional (or profile pic) purposes.

I guess I can teach you how to fit everything you own into a carry-on-sized backpack - I have been travelling with only a carry-on (containing a Ukulele!!) for an entire year. Pretty useful traveller's skills :)
Also, I can teach you how to say Rød Grød Med Fløde in Danish if you want..
