Music, Movies, and Books
My tastes are quite mainstream, but also I have a discerning taste and as such high expectations. As such I only pay attention to the best of the pop culture that surrounds us everyday and either ignore most alternative scenes or find it amusing how people trying to be hip/cool when in fact they are anything but.
As such I rarely go to movies, unless I know its gonna be jawdroppingly good (like watching the Dark Knight at the IMAX). I only like to read a book, which would have at least a couple lifechangeing Ah-ha! moments in it for me and I only like one or two tracks even from my favourite albums or artists.
More often than not though I prefer to do stuff, rather than read about it or see it on TV/Movies. Even if its in a smaller scale / amateurish. (eg. would rather do a gig with my own improv friends than go to a west end theatre or to dance classes, rather than just going to a concert)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hanggliding in Rio as we launched into the misty clouds on top of a mountains in the jungle, circling above expensive houses with a pool in each one and landing on the sandy beach where local kids were practicing backflips with the tourists.
Camping overnight in the sanddunes in Morocco completely alone (except a snake) and watching the sunrise.
Scuba diving in 3 continents with sharks/turtles and sunken ships/wrecks.
Hiking up a volcano in Kamchatka in Russia in August and enjoying the first fall of snow on our way up.
Spendning a whole week rock-climbing in the sunny Spain and discovering how quickly the skin disintegrates off my fingers.
Jumping off into a freefall from 13m high cliffs to smash into a cool river and doing gorging/canyoneering in some of the most beautiful parts of southern France.
Getting served japanese "pizza" at a local eatery in Tokyo where noone spoke English (and none of us spoke any Japanese)
Realized that I have been out-bargained by a tuk-tuk driver in Bangkok and I still thought that I had the deal of the fckin century.
Taking the train and ferry from midtown New York and arriving to Fire Island for a day out in the sun, sea and sand.
Spending two weeks with my parents while exploring national parks around Las Vegas (Bryce ,Zion, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia)
Walking and petting lions in Victoria Falls
Swimming with great white and tiger sharks in Cape Town
Teach, Learn, Share
I have an opinion and view on almost everything and blunt enough to share it straight up. My specialty is financial markets.
