About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is SHORT, so... Break the RULES, FORGIVE quickly, KISS slowly, LOVE truly, LAUGH uncontrollably, LEARN passionately and NEVER REGRET anything that makes me SMILE (Note: Borrow this quote from somewhere I don't really remember) :-)

ABOUT ME

A world traveler, an ambitious woman and a life lover. I'm proud that I have met so many interesting people and had so many good friends (who I can really call friends) around the world. I'm joyful, open-minded, energetic and can make anyone laugh if if I feel comfortable around them. I don't live by materials, social status or wealth so hopefully meet people with same free spirit along the way.

My zodiac is Libra and my temperaments swing between choleric and sanguine. So, if you google about them, you would know about me better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a volunteered member of Initiatives of Change, an International NGO focusing on youth development, community building, conflict resolution, etc. I know this website from a French friend, Ludovic Hubler. He's the one who traveled the world by hitchhiking ^_^

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So many... Thanks to my volunteering experience and hobby of travelling, I have been to many countries, living with several local families, interacting with so many people from all backgrounds and social classes (by that I mean from the top-notched politician and business leaders to the prisoners in Indian cells and beggars on the street)... Catch me, put me on the chair in a nice coffee shop and I 'll tell you more ;)

Interests

Travelling, sport (volleyball, badminton, table tennis, etc.), outdoor activities (camping, trekking, etc.), listening to music (all types, up to the mood), meeting friends, volunteering works, discussing whatever subjects (mostly politics, economics, education and environment). I get bored pretty quickly so I have tried to keep my eyes opened for new ideas, inspirations and interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read books, watch movies and also listen to music - whatever is good and bring inspiration.
- Books i have read: Chicken soup for the soul - Jack Canfield & Mark Vitor Hansen, A flat world - Thomas Friedman, Kira-Kira - Cynthia Kadohata, Ous es tu? - Marc Levy, La prochaine fois - Marc Levy, Being a happy teenager - Andrew Matthews, etc. plus plenty of business and non-fiction books.
- Movies i have watched: A lot, I'm pretty much into movies that can give me 'aha' moments: Pay it forward, Crash, Redemption, I am Sam, Forrest Gump, Tuesdays with Morrie, White Oleander, Life as a house, Butterfly Effect I $ II, The curious case of Benjamin Button, Inception, Matrix, , Life Story of Mohammed Gandhi, Gravity, etc. My favorite actors are Keenu Reaves, Tom Hanks and Robin Williams; my favorite actresses are Sandra Bullock, Metryl Streep and Angelina Jolie.
- Music i have listened: mostly instrumental, pop, punk and gothic rock. Recently I have been into Celtic music as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Live a life of an adventurer:

- Lost my passport on my very first trip abroad and spent a day with prostitutes (no ,I was not one of them, lol) in the Singaporean Police station waiting to be deported. Don't worry, I got into the country at last.
- Was almost put in jail in Vietnam on my 3rd year at university due to an attempt to organize the biggest Halloween party for all students in my city.
- Was in a 9.5 months journey volunteering in 8 different countries with more than 45 people from 18 countries.
- Indirectly saved a person's life through my life story.
- Spoke in front of the biggest crowd ever in my life - 3,000 students.
- Inspired thousands of students and people across 8 countries.
- Met Dalai Lama the 14th and Tibetian ministers in Dharamsala.
- Lived in and traveled to over 15 cities in Japan and stayed in the house of Sumitomo Corp. successor for 2 nights.
- Experienced my first fully-naked sauna in Japan and climbed Fuji Moutain.
- Had a road trip on my motorbike through mountainous areas in Northern Vietnam (will do it again but this time will be from North to South).
- Had many camping and trekking trips in Middle East, especially the U.A.E

Teach, Learn, Share

- Teach: I can teach you Vietnamese and Vietnamese cooking definitely ^_^ (am 99.9% Vietnamese)
- Learn: I have learnt many things from my friends, Vietnamese and foreigners. Continuous learning and development is my motto.
- Share: I have a bunch of things to share with you, especially things about Vietnam and my learning/discovery over the years. The more i travel, the more i understand and love my country and my family. Vietnam is not a big, material rich and modern country but it is rich with its "real" people with smiles on their faces, with its fantastic food...
