Overview
About Me
I consider myself as a student in the top of my classes. I receive A's as letter grades in my school system in America. My specializations are in Mathematics and Language Arts or Literature, where my scores usually are the top of the class. I believe myself to be very great at adapting to new languages because I was born in Vietnam and moved to America at the age of six; that made me work really hard to become fluent in English which allowed me to become way better than most students in the grammar and vocabulary departments.
I'm also using that skill to expand my knowledge to other languages, which are currently Spanish for its widespread usage and Japanese for my love of the language. I can strangely sing japanese songs with fluent pronunciations after learning the romaji, but I just won't know what I'm saying. This is why I'm studying the compelling mechanics of Japanese with its hiragana and katakana just because of its uniqueness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to expand my language skills to break the barriers and I'm hoping to travel to regions to place myself in environments that would require me to adapt.

Music, Movies, and Books
- I'm very interested in J-Pop and Japanese music in general.
- I usually enjoy watching anime shows for entertainment and learning a bit of the common japanese phrases.
- I've enjoyed novels that deal with more mature concepts like The Book Thief and The Great Gatsby.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Actually, I don't consider that there was only a single moment that I value the most, so here are a couple.
- I have created and still am creating covers for Japanese songs that catch my eye, usually from anime theme songs.
- I ranked in the 99th percentile across the U.S. for my SAT scores, meaning my scores are in the top 1%. Ivy League, here I come!
Teach, Learn, Share
- I can teach a lot about music. I'm in my school choir and so can offer basic knowledge on singing, such as solfège and reading music. This also translates into being able to teach the beginnings of playing guitar.
- I can teach the mechanics of photography and how to enjoy the beauty of taking pictures.
- I love teaching others English so that they can adapt to living in the U.S. like I do now. I currently take time to aid in assisting students new to America.
- I'm looking to learn new languages from hosts by placing me in an environment where I can't rely only on the languages that I already know well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer my teachings about speaking English, Vietnamese and Spanish. I can provide cooking of the basic dishes that I know how to make. I can share a lot about the cultures that I've experienced to help connect both myself and my hosts beyond cultural differences.
