About Me

I am a 19 year old student entrepreneur from Rice University, one of the best universities in the world, located in hot, humid Houston, Texas.

I grew up in the quiet, quaint suburbs of Cincinnati, OH to the parents of two Chinese immigrants. Despite coming from the burbs and having only been to a few other places outside Cincy, I've always wanted to see the world. Perhaps the desire to migrate runs in my blood!

My adventurousness is why I chose to go to school just over 1,000 miles away from where I was born and raised, from Ohio to Texas; it's why I am studying abroad in Hong Kong this upcoming fall; it's why I want to learn at least a part of every language (I'm starting with the word "love" <3).

Whether it be for a day, meal, or even handshake, I hope you and I get the opportunity to meet and enlighten one another.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason I'm on CS is NOT to bum a night's sleep off others. I am fine sleeping in my car or Eno! The absolute worst would be watching cable by myself in some hotel, nice or not.

The reason I'm on CS is to LEARN more about other humans. I want to learn about you, your interests, and your worldview. The more different from mine, the better!

Interests

Intense physical activity – rock climbing, body weight fitness, lacrosse – anything that challenges the whole body's coordination :)

Psychonaut – lucid dreaming, Tai Qi, meditation – investigating consciousness through direct experiences

Music, Movies, and Books

Books – the Ender's Game Series (Orscon Scott Card), Brave New World and The Island (Aldous Huxley), Siddhartha (Herman Hesse)

Movies – my life is a movie. I saw that somewhat jokingly, but in all honesty I am not that good at watching TV or movies. I would rather interact with a person or nature or get lost in a book with my own senses than through a screen! That's not to say that movies aren't good enough for me, I just find myself already sucked deeply into life.

Music – I was born and raised off hip-hop, but coming down to a college campus you can't help but start listening to electronic. Lately, I've been really into mash-ups and ski playlists, which typically mix in all kinds of music – alternative, jazz, electronic, RnB – into one great piece!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I slept overnight at the Chicago Museum of Science Industry during July 4th of 2015.

Teach, Learn, Share

Knowledge and understanding are two different things. That said, we all have something to teach one another, whether it be a skill, a language, or wisdom. What's great about teaching is that it spreads intangibly. I don't lose anything by teaching you and you me. We both gain!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with hosts a part of my identity by opening up about my experiences, dreams, and fears. All I would ask of my host would be to return the favor!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China
