Music, Movies, and Books
i like comedies & dramas. I have a slight aversion to action movies, especially after spending 4 days on buses from Lima to Igauzu forced to watch James Bond & The Rock movies continuously.
books. i like non-fiction. My favourite books are ´The Forest People´ about the pygmies in Africa, ´Savages´ about the Huorani people of Ecuador, and ´The Life of Pi´.
i am a triple j listener (australians will know what this means). i like chill-out & reggae (Bonobo, Sigur Ros, Bob Marley, Gondwana), dance/dubstep stuff (Skrillex, Foster the People), rock & indie rock (The Strokes, Tame Impala), and some hardcore when i´m angry (Poison the Well, Parkway Drive).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
visited 9 states (4%)Create your own visited map of The World or Free ipad travel guide
1. Walking pumas and jaguars in the jungle. So not really just a moment, but I volunteered at Inti Wara Yassi, Ambue Ari animal refuge for 3 months last year in Bolivia. It´s hot, there are a million mosquitoes and there is no electricity, but some of my best memories of travelling in South America are from there. In the mornings I walked a jaguar named Katie (from whom I have a nice little momento on my knee). And in the afternoons, I walked 3 puma sisters, 1 of which I swam with in the river on a few occasions.
2. Seeing a school of 80 hammerhead sharks. I was completing my ´deep dive´ as part of my Advanced Open Water Dive Cert. in the Galapagos Islands. We descended to 20 m, I looked up and saw a school of hammerheads starting to pass overhead. We watched the silhouettes of about 80 of them pass over us, absolutely incredible!
3. Swimming with sea lions. I went around Australia with my family when I was seventeen. In South Australia, we found a guy that took us out to a sea lion colony and we swam with them. The water was freezing but I was transfixed by them, I stayed in for over an hour. They are so adorable, just like playful puppy dogs of the sea.
