Overview
About Me
When I just turned 18 I moved alone from a tiny caribbean island named Curacao to The Netherlands to study. With little money and no experience in the real world I started my journey to obtain my bachelor of science. Throughout those years I've graduated and worked several different jobs; at a company as well as part-time jobs in hospitality. However, I suddenly came to the realisation that somewhere along the way I had forgotten my passion for helping the people around me. I worked a hard, 9 to 5 job with night shifts in a restaurant on the side. So after that, I decided to pack my bags and start traveling the world! I joined the volunteering website workaway and have been doing volunteer work during my travels.
My hobbies include practicing photography (I try not to adhere to the cliches of travel instagram girls), cooking delicious meals, baking, and watching movies and series. I speak 4 and a half languages (Dutch, English, Spanish, Papiamentu and a bit of Korean) and I intend to keep developing my language skills. I also have quite a bit of experiencing in teaching languages, so if you would like to learn any of the ones I speak it could be a lot of fun!
Other than that I believe keeping fit both mentally and physically is important, so I enjoy working out and meditating, while trying to eat mostly health conscious meals (french fries are my kryptonite though). Other than that I'm learning how to play the ukelele and I really enjoy singing (trying to be more confident by bringing it outside the shower walls).
Also my favourite animals are whale sharks; important to know.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would love to be able to make new friends and meet new people. I want to exchange skills, learn new languages, and have deep and meaningful conversations about anything from philosophy to the newest episode of black mirror.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite book is Requiem for a dream. I'm unable to choose a favourite movie, since I really enjoy watching movies but my favourite genre is phycological thrillers and within this genre I have a top three; Reservoir dogs, Fight club, Trainspotting. My music taste is quite diverse; I can't deny my latina roots so I love latin music (anything from salsa, to merengue to bachata). My Caribbean taste in music is also quite present (sometimes I wake up in a reggae mood and listen to that all day). Other than that I really enjoy more laid back music like bonobo, bon iver and Frank Ocean.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the most amazing thing I have done is volunteer at a mindfulness centre in Thailand, living amongst Buddhist and learning about Buddhism whilst meditating every day. Ever day we walked barefoot through markets for food offerings from the Thai people. It was a humbling experience that made me be even more thankful and to not take anything for granted.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you different languages, teach how to lead a healthy lifestyle for the body as well as for the mind, teaching and learning about different cultures and sharing experiences. I don't particularly like the word teaching though, since it sounds like the knowledge of a person is above the other, so let's just exchange interest, knowledge and experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a very social and positive girl who believes that starting the day with a smile can change your mood and the mood of the people around you. We can have intellectual conversations about meditation, buddhism and social issues but I also don't like to take everything too seriously; I have a sense of humor and I love having a good time with people filled with laughter and fun. I realize I have no references since I've only started my experience with couchsurfing but I guarantee that I am not a serial killer, haha.
