Who are these people?
Hello there! This is the profile of Gerald and Tanja. We are a couple from Vienna (Austria) that likes all kind of sports, music, travelling, meeting new people and exploring the world. We are really open minded and easy going people. Usually we are very active when travelling but also like to chill. If you want to cook/drink/hangout together, that`d be great – but if you don’t want to talk and just give us some shelter, we totally respect that and are happy too.

We both have tons of interests and are always looking out to try something new. We like all kind of sports like surfing, diving, running, snowboarding, skateboarding, skim boarding, biking or playing Frisbee. If we move around in cities, we try to go by bike if possible. We like to travel and this is why we decided to travel and explore the world from August 2017 on. We both like music a lot and often attend concerts and festivals if something good comes up. We like to listen to singer/songwriter music, Punk/Rock, HC/Punk, but we are open-minded for other music styles too, whatever fits the situation and mood. Tanja: I am a book worm and do Yoga on a daily basis. Gerald: I play in two HC/Punk bands and like to tour across Europe from time to time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We used to have a flat in Vienna until July 2017, where we hosted lots of friends and friends of friends if a sleeping place was required. It was always a great experience to meet interesting new people from all over the world. Now we want to travel the world on our own and want to get to know the way people really live in the countries we are going to visit and learn about their culture and habits. In my opinion, using couchsurfing when travelling, you get to know a country and its people way better than just speaking to other tourists in hostels or camp sites - and this is what we are seeking for.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both like watching series more than watching movies. Usually we like to watch funny series like Modern Family, Family Guy, Testies, The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, It`s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother, South Park etc. but sometimes we can’t escape from more serious, still legendary series like Game Of Thrones or True Detective. Tanja: I like reading a lot and love to read travel books, biographies and ethnographies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tanja: I like to volunteer whenever I find time. I worked in a Tibetan orphanage for some time and was involved in the organisation of a summer camp for kids in Morocco.
Gerald: I grew my hair for 2 years and donated it to a wig maker in order to make wigs for kids suffering from cancer.
