Overview
About Me
Hi, I like many people love to travel and get to know new cultures. Currently, I am on a trip around the world with mz husband Chris. We have started in China, been to Myanmar and are now in Vietnam. Our next destinations are not entirely decided yet, but will include India, Taiwan, Malaysia and the Philipines before we travel to South America.
We are writing on a travel blog. It is in English so check it out, if you like: https://not-all-who-wander-are-lost.blog/
Before that we both worked in Berlin. Me as an urban planner and Chris in marketing. We have interesting stories and travel tips to share and are always glad to meet local experts who we can ask a ton of questions. Especially me. I am fascinated by the why, when and how a place came to be, how and why it works and what the people there do.
If we are back home, I am a self-appointed tour-guide and can give share loads of information about the places I have lived in. Mz other great passion apart from places is food. I am always game for a good meal with food I have never eaten before. If you hand me a menu I will order what I do not know on principle, thus I have eaten some strange things. Although I am getting more cautious due to recent food poising incidents, or maybe I am just getting old.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have become a member on couchsurfing originally, because we used it to organise self-guided city tours in Vienna with some friends. Now I would like to use it to make new friends and meet nice hosts, that like to hang out and love to explain about the places they live in.
Me and my husband always host a lot of international friends and people in our home, but usually through a network we were both part of as students.
Interests
I love history, especially the history of a place, any place really. It is no matter whether it is an industrial complex, a world class archeological site an abandoned building or just a run of the mill appartment complex, I am curious about all of them. Although admittedly I will marvel at some more than others.
So if you walk through a city with me I will randomly turn into little alleyways and courtyards to check out what is in there, and I will either enlighten you (or for some people bore you) with random facts or questions about the area. I really like tour-guiding: organising and attending city tours and experiencing local cultures and cuisines through the eyes of the people living there.
Also a big fan of urban gaming, ballroom dancing and museums.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a huge fantasy fan. The Harry Potter books hands down are my favorite books. The Prisoner of Azkaban being the best among them. I also really like historical fiction: anyone interested in European history of the 20th century, just read Ken Follett's century triology. It is marvellous. (Go E.!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have written a cookbook with easy recipes, inspired by my travels and Austrian cuisine, that anyone can make.
Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach: dancing Vienna Waltz like they do during the New Years concert; making proper green tea; a variety of card and board games
Learn: Love to learn useful phrases in the local language and cooking skills, as well as all about the local daily life, history and culture
Share: good conversation, my love of food, local knowledge about historical urban development, tours to hidden places in Vienna and Berlin; home-baked Sacher cake; all kinds of tea, a mean breakfast
What I Can Share with Hosts
good conversation about life and the state of Europe; my digital cookbook; Chinese characters; home cooked food; nice pictures
