About Me

Hi I'm Jeriel, a cool little human being that lives and studies in Dunedin, New Zealand. i love my corner of the world and am incredibly proud and blessed to be living in paradise on Earth. I'm currently in Argentina doing my exchange year, and I'm falling in love with the country, people and customs each and every single day.

I love to read, write and hear people tell their stories. I hope to be a journalist one day, and tell all these stories that I've been so privileged to witness. i do love adventure and the sea. I've found the perfect combination of these two loves in diving, and i'm currently and probably always will be, an addict of scuba diving. i love to spend my time exploring the sea, and a perfect holiday would be somewhere aquatic, with lots of little fishy friends!

I'm an avid supporter of trying new things and living out of my comfort zone, so habitually i challenge myself with activities like skiing, dancing, eating different things, marathons, and many more. Over the course of attempting these feats of courage, I do have many cherished stories and even more funny incidents. I'd love to share them with people i meet all around the world and perhaps bring a smile into their lives. Could the next person be you?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couch surfing is a great community who is living an even greater philosophy. I would love to host people, when i settle down at a location long enough to captivate my attention and wanderlust. I happily depend on the charity and good graces of hosts everywhere that i'm travelling, and hope to share a little of myself along the way.

I've had positive and unforgettable couch surfing experiences in Valparaiso, Chile, in January 2014.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love classical and jazz music with every fibre of my soul. I believe they resonate closest to the human expression of life, and these musicians make music seem so natural and obvious. When i listen to a piece of classical or jazz music, i feel like the blindfolds of life over my eyes are being lifted and I'm seeing for the first time.

I love the classic books, but a modern author that i would absolutely recommend would be Yael Goldstein Love, who wrote one of my favourite contemporary books, The Passion of Tasha Darsky. It is magnificent and changed my life in ways that I'm still discovering today.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm currently doing my exchange year in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is exactly 12 hours away and on the opposite side of the world from where I was born, and probably the best place to begin my travels and discover the world around me. I'm finding out more about the marvel of humankind and the common aspirations, dreams, struggles and songs that define us as individuals as well as one big family.
