About Me

Contrary to the popular belief of Asians being smart, I think compared to my peers, I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed but I made it through University! I also have a special talent: I can lick my elbow, bet you can't!

I can be fun and silly and also have meaningful conversations. As much as I admire people who are able to drink alcohol, let loose and get high, I also strongly believe that the best moments are created when sober.

I know I have zero references but please consider me! Afterall, we all have to start from ground zero right!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love Singapore, the tiny country I spent almost 22 years of my life in. There's lots of good food and a wonderful balance of nature and city lights. As much as I love Singapore, I think I have been living in a comfortable bubble for way too long and my perspective on life is incredibly limited. As I scroll through profiles of hosts on this platform, I cannot help but think to myself: What?? Someone like that exists?!?! There is so much out there in this world I have yet to discover!!!

I want to meet new people, listen to stories and experience the world through others. Hopefully, when I come back to Singapore, I'll be able to see life differently and have the courage to challenge the status quo.

Also... I have just graduated from University and to put it simply, I'm a broke student who desperately wants to see the world without having to empty my savings! My mum is right, I am really stubborn - I don't have much $$ and yet I want to see the world. But you gotta do what you gotta do right?

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music!! Who doesn't? No specific band though, I listen to anything that perfectly describes the moment I am in. Not very much into movies but if I had to choose, all non-fiction movies. More of a documentary person, anything to do with the environment and social issues. I am going to sound really dense from here, but I don't enjoy reading books. As much as I try to conform to the seemingly smarter population (also feels like the majority), who enjoy diving into books and a world of intellectual stimulation, I am also failing terribly at it. Truth is, I really don't enjoy books. Maybe this will change when I mature in life, like how I only started enjoying broccoli last year.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Do the Trolltunga hike in Norway! Struggling to think of more because I think my life is pretty amazing as a whole but what would be considered amazing enough to the couchsurfing community? When I think along those lines, I might not be cool enough hmm..

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Singlish! If you don't know, Singlish is colloquial Singaporean English, it is a mix of English, Chinese, Malay and many dialects - basically, very broken English! We really shouldn't be speaking Singlish but we cannot help it because this colourful language will make your life A LOT easier!! (Inserting a fun fact here: English is the first language in Singapore!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have not heard about Singapore, I'd love to share our the history and culture of our small but very advanced nation! If you are hungry, I can cook you some mediocre Chinese food. I'm not the most fantastic chef out there but an Asian with some oyster sauce and noodles won't go wrong!
